The ATI driver, compiled from Haiku sources, works very well with the x850 XTP ( Platinum Edition, on AGP ). No complaints other than a KDL with the radeon media_addon installed.
Haven't had a chance to properly test TV Out, but I will. Also haven't tested DVI...

HD 2x00 seem to be RV600 chips and the current BeOS driver manages up to RV350... I don't think just injecting HD2400 pciids in detect.c will be suffisant but you can tried ....

Just wondering if anyone knows how much effort it would be to get the HD2400 XT ( PCI-Express ) functional with this driver...
I just bought one, so I guess I'll have to make it work one way or another ( or bribe someone who could ).

It pays to dig through the old talk back posts. Thanks to kvdman for a post from 3 years ago! Now my 4 year old Compaq Evo can triple boot & correctly run BeOS, OS X x86, and Windows XP. Whoo Hoo!!
Here's a link to the old Radeon driver that worked for me.

You might want to try uninstalling the new driver, and installing version 3.7 (I believe) or earlier. I have a Radeon 7500 and anything after v3.7 of his driver produces garbled withe stuff and snow on my screen including v5.3. I'm not sure if he had the card ids for your card in the version i'm using, but it's worth a try."

I tried installing a few of the Radeon drivers. I'm pretty retarded so I think I did it right.
I have an ATI 7500 Radeon Mobility 32MB 4c57 in a Compaq Evo n6210 laptop. For me the screen comes up & I'm able to change resolutions, but there's a bunch of flashing lines all over the place. I think someone posted about it earlier.
It's almost like there's interference coming from somewhere, but that can't be the case in that the card works fine in OX X x86 and Windows XP. I installed BeOS Max V4.

You'll find the most uptodate version of the radeon driver in my posts in the talkback. The driver is now maintained in the Haiku repository. It compiles for R5 / Zeta too.
I dont know where to find this talkback sorry.

The driver used in the newest Beos Max ver.4 b2 version is the fastest for me.
I am able to change teh wrokspaces very fast., which is not possible with the radeon driver I tried so far.
Which Version does he use? How to copy this driver to my Haiku system or to Zeta?

Hi Euan,
I've a new system with a Celeron 356 @ 3.3Ghz, 512 Mb or DDR2 and an Ati Radeon X850XT Platinium Edition on the first PCIe x16 port.
It crash at boot, on the last boot screen icon.
When I enable the syslog output, I can see it's due to Radeon driver. But I failed so far to find a way to capture this output, as at next (VESA) boot my /var/log/syslog don't contains anymore the previous boot lines, being truncated I guess.
I've installed the Haiku version of the Radeon driver to get X850 detection. Build on a BONE machine, for the "bone" build target. I've installed the cpu_fix to get clock and cpu detection corrected. I've NOT yet installed the 512M RAM boot limiter patch. And I've NOT yet installed the IRQ Sharing Fix (maybe it's related?).
Anyway, how I can grab the radeon log from the Haiku driver version? If I can't, should I retest with your latest driver version published on BeBits instead?
Thanks.

Make sure you a symbolic link from /kernel/bin/radeon to /kernel/dev/graphics/radeon
Also make sure you don't have any other drivers installed.
If your using Zeta make sure you have the driver called radeon.driver (in the zeta package). And vice versa for R5

Hi Urias, yes just need complied binaries, as I can't run R5 on my desktop or laptop. replied to your email.
Just to update everyone the updated driver should support all cards upto X850, and the rebadged X1250s that are really X300 / X600 type devices. So that's R100 to R480 atchitectures, including RV types. Any other cards that are R520 generation or higher, EG X1300 and up are not supported.
Currently the driver doesn't like cards with dual DVI,the second output won't work in DVI-D mode. It may work if a VGA adapter is used. Also the backlight on some X-series laptops doesn't come on.
I'll make sure the 1440 modeline is in. I'm sure it is on the latest driver though.

Euan,
Are you talking about simply compiling the Radeon driver from Haiku repo? If that is what you need, I can compile it for R5 (as I just did a few days ago myself without issues) and provide you with the jam package it produces.
Sikosis needs to get the build factory running again...

I fixed the issue of pc's crashing with R100 / R200 hardware IE less than Radeon 9500's. (see the haiku source) I also updated the hardware lists to all known supported hardware. I need someone to compile and test the R5 code, as none of my PCs will run BeOS, and Zeta is very unstable. :( If not I will get a version complied in a couple of weeks when compatible hardware is available. Sorry for the delay. :) Email me.

Which driver works with the Radeon 9250 PCI graphics card under BeOS 5.0.3 and Developer Edition 1.1?
I have the Diamond Multimedia version of the Radeon 9250 PCI card with 256 Megs video RAM. BeOS reports the Card ID as 5960.
I tried 'BeOS_Radeon_V5.1.6.1_Bin.zip', but no go.
The drivers from Zeta Neo, 1.2, 1.21 and 1.5 do work with this card, but under those operating systems only.
(I previously had a Sapphire Radeon 7000 PCI with 64 Megs of video RAM installed, which was compatible with all the Radeon driver versions.)
Any ideas?

It's all included LJR sorry I thought it was the same file which came with the radeon source.
Problem! Newer version do NOT support my radeon (7000-7500) whatever, I need (and might need the source as well of) some older version, I'll ask Thomas and Euan.
I could compile the 5.1 version from the first link after making BeIDE aware of some headers and other files. Wow BeIDE is a wonderfull tool almost never worked with it, never read any manual and I 'got it' quite fast! Marvelous.

I don't understand the modeline(?) method. I tried UMC (universal modeline calculator) from sourceforge but I didn't get the same results as are in the file. I think I tried every option in it but still.
Any info about this? Should all possible modelines be written in that ProposeDisplayMode.c file? I wonder why DDC doesn't work I'll try to compile the latest 5.1 from Tomas Kurschel (not Euan) and get it going.

What I can't get is DVI and wide screen resolution, the LCD panel is 1440x900 and the only options I get is all 4:3 resolutions till 1600x1200.
