Did you apply the changes from LJR?

You will need to email me the syslog (boot up with Console logging enabled), located at /var/log/syslog

Dear Euan,

this is my filesystem after the lastest ATI drivers installation (only the following files are in the boot/home sub-folders):

radeon.driver (5.1.3g) in
/boot/home/config/add-ons/kernel/drivers/bin

radeon.accelerant (5.1.3g) in
/boot/home/config/add-ons/accelerants

symlink of radeon.accelerant (5.1.3g) in
/boot/home/config/add-ons/kernel/drivers/dev/graphics

radeon.media_addon (5.1.3g) in
/boot/home/config/add-ons/media

I have also copyed the "radeon.media_addon (5.1.3g)" in
/boot/zeta/system/add-ons/media

Rebooting I can use Zeta only in 1024x768 16bit mode but I am not sure the X300 has been well recognized.
For sure the acceleration is not available since the refresh moving windows is very poor.

In ZetaPC--Info my Video Card is not recognized yet (or at least I cannot figured out the correct way to check if the card is well installed):

Video Card: ATI - Unknown

Any help to fix the ATI X300 drivers with 1680x1050 rez?

Thanks for your patience ;o)

Try renaming the radeon driver file to "radeon.driver".

Hi all, which driver version can I use to work with my Radeon X300 with 1680x1050 LCD?

I try the 5.1.3g but after rebooting, Zeta 1.0 + SP 1.1 starts always in VESA mode.

Thanks in advance for your help

Dld the sources, search ProposeDisplayMode.c and add the following line in the base_mod_list definition :

/* 16:10 panel mode; 1.764M pixels */
{ { 147100, 1680, 1784, 1968, 2256, 1050, 1051, 1054, 1087, T_POSITIVE_SYNC}, B_CMAP8, 1680, 1050, 0, 0, MODE_FLAGS}, /* Vesa_Monitor_@60Hz_(1680X1050) */

Or dld .c from http://ljr.free.fr/blog/?p=73 (make a diff between last version to add only wanted modes w/o breaking the rest of the code)

Hi, is there a new version of the driver released soon? if so any chance you could add the 1680x1050 rez selection in there? that would be much, much appreciated. Ive tried hacking the config/settings/app_server settings file, but that just seems to crash my tracker when i reboot.
BeOS R5.03 pro

has anyone been able to get this rez going nicely within BeOS? any help would be much appreciated, btw, nice job with this driver, it works flawlessly on my old CRT with BeOS, nice n fast too :)

great job.

Sorry about that Edukas, but as all the posts say the changes are specifically for mobility, and multi-monitor detection. There's nothing to gain from these modified drivers for your card. I suggest you start up in safe mode, and re-install the latest stable ones.

S_d, I've added a lot of the code from the X.org source that detects what displays are connected, but isn't quite properly integrated. Given that it worked before and doesn't now, If you can send me a syslog of before and after that would be very useful.

Hello, I have Radeon 7200 64MB DDR AGP x4. Before using this driver- Zeta was well...
After reading post I install these drivers... and http://euank.users.btopenworld.com/beos/BeOS_Radeon_V5.1.3g_Bin.zip kills my Zeta installation. :(

Now after starting computer and starting Zeta window I have few cropped colored lines on top screen and total freeze :(

Hi Euan,

Thanks for integrating the ID of my card to the driver.
Like you already expected, it didn't run very well...
But it was recognized and loaded.

I sent an Email to you about how the desktop looked.
Also the syslog was attached.

Just posting here to show people, that I didn't forget about that ;-)

Thanks so far!

If you are using Just about any version of Beos, (I dont know about Zeta} it should be opened automatically by "Software Valet", when double clicked on. So I assume you are using Beos?

Hi,

Just moved to Argentina and need a new driver so my notebook's mobility Radeon 9200 will work with a PAL-N TV. This driver seems perfect. But I download the file and don't know how to install it. I can't seem to select it as a driver..

It has .pkg extension, can someone please tell me with what software I can open this with. Is this a form of compression?

I added the number for X600SE, looks like it's actually an X300 renamed to X600 judging by the ID. Let me know how it goes, I don't expect much success... Post a syslog if you have problems.

http://euank.users.btopenworld.com/beos/BeOS_Radeon_V5.1.3g_Bin.zip

Latest source FTR:

http://euank.users.btopenworld.com/beos/BeOS_Radeon_V5.1.3g_SRC.zip

As I don't have a laptop, nor access to Xx00 family mobility devices I can't do much more to help support them. I still have a couple of things to poke around with (monitor routing). At the moment I'm going to have a look at adding Rage Theatre 200 support to the media addon.

I have a X600SE with wxga graphic in my notebook.
The driver doesn't work for me at all.

I deleted the vesa config file, installed this driver and rebootet.
It was started in vesa again.

In the sourcecode of the c-version (link provided few posts before)I saw, that the ID of my card is missing.

Unfortunately I don't know much about editing and building such a code.

The ID of the card is 0x5462

Maybe another important card to try to support...

It didn't lock up right away, which is perhaps promising. The display is pretty screwed up, but I can see the mouse cursor, move it around, and see my desktop icons. I can see NetworkTime launch and grab the correct time.

You can see a picture of the screen:

http://68.44.156.246/beos-radeon-x700-513e-image.jpg

Those messages in the syslog (about SYNC_TO_TOKEN) didn't stop this past time till I hit the reset button.

Hopefully you or someone can figure out whats going on. The whole system loads and doesn't KDL, I can hear my disks mounting which is usually one of the last things that's done before I can begin using Zeta. I just can't see anything because the screen is washed out (with the new driver)

Thanks

That gives a few useful options to look into.

Maybe a tmds setup, or primary display routing issue...

This one is a Zeta 1.1 installation with the 3.2.8 radeon driver that functions perfectly:

This one is a Zeta 1.0 installation with the BeOS_Radeon_V5.1.3e_Bin.zip version that doesnt work:

If you can get the source for v3.2.8 of the radeon driver and compare it to the current version that would help. I traced backwards from v5, and 3.2.8 was the last one that worked with my card.

I installed the driver as per the instructions, and now it loads, but just as the official release, and the Haiku driver, I'm left with the screen leaving a white haze with no visible or useable desktop.

The syslog doesn't give any useful information, only something about my localekit.

Ok, the ROM is now read by your driver.
After reboot, i have now a black blank screen.
(better than some grain on screen ;-) )

I have sent the syslog by mail!

As the driver is not 5.1.3, the log is telling us that the driver that is doing the probing is 5.1.1 which doesn't know about the new card anyway.

delete all radeon drivers, reboot, re-install, reboot, then send me a new syslog.

The latest driver seem to give the same result as far as i can see (same wicked screen), anyway here is the syslog:

This is on Zeta 1.1

The Driver doesn't Work in ZETA.

I've copied the file "radeon" to "/boot/home/config/add-ons/kernel/drivers/bin/" (and the accellerant in the accelerant directory), then i set the symbolic link in "/boot/home/config/add-ons/kernel/drivers/dev/graphics/"
and restarted... nothing happens!

After renaming it in "radeon.driver" and after setting a link, it doesn't work either!!!

I checked the detect.c and found the card-id (0x5652) of my "X700 (MOBILITY) (PCIE)" there

Any Idea?!

there's no radeon driver installed. If your running Zeta I beleive you need to rename the radeon driver to radeon.driver, also try making a symbolic link to /boot/home/config/add-ons/kernel/drivers/dev/graphics/
