The first thing to check (and the one thing very easy to forget) is to see if you're having multiple Tracker addons with the same keyboard shortcut. An addon like Something-P would clash with the Snapshot-P addon. Tracker doesn't alert you to this, unfortunately, but you can change the shortcut character by renaming the Tracker addon files.

(To signature "D.P." who mailed me about Snapshot:
Your email address was missing, so I could not answer you. Hope you read this.)
Snapshot expects /bin/zip to exist, and calls it with the -ry option and the names of the files to zip. (similar to the Zip-O-Matic addon)
Another idea might be that the filenames don't get quoted/escaped the right way before passed to /bin/zip via the shell,
but I think I've got that area covered, but you never know.
Does Zip-O-Matic zip the files alright?
You can look at the debug output of Snapshot by doing this:
- open a Terminal
- write this
quit application/x-vnd.Be-TRAK
(or kill -9 Tracker)
(wait)
/boot/beos/system/Tracker &
(wait)
- keep the Terminal open and try using Snapshot
- read what's printed in the Terminal
(if you keep this window open and start other apps via Tracker you will see their output as well)
If you like you can copy the output and mail it to me.

If you are only taking a snapshot of one or two files, it might just be happening so fast that it seems like nothing happened. IIRC, it drops the output somewhere in your home directory.

Is this supposed to work with 5.03pro? I have it in tracker
add-ons and can't have it make a snapshot. Wish I could figure out what's wrong. Looks like a good program.

I am always living a bit dangerously with my experimentation. This app makes it easy to undo mysterious bad things that sometimes happen. The most convenient aspect of it for me is that it parks the archive well out of harm's way, so to speak. ;-) The time/date stamp is a nice touch, too!
BTW, it compiles easily and without modification for PPC.
