Hi! Yes, I've downloaded the boot floppy image you mention, but the Magnetic BePatch-O-Matic was really intended as a quick personal tool to get into BeOS without making boot disks, burning CDs, or anything like that; just a quick Personal Edition virtual partition hack. I believe kpatch and other "proper" patching utilities modify more than just the single "GenuineIntel" entry in the kernel, so it's still best to apply that once it has booted, of course. Mileage may vary on different systems, but on this R5.0.0 install on an Asus A7V333 it still works pretty well without kpatch. I'll consider making another version at some point which patches everything required, but unless anyone reports booting problems after patching, it's not a high priority, since there's always kpatch, and this system seems to boot okay after the initial patching anyway.
As for the download link not working, I've updated the BeBits description with a link to wget, and also a link to an application homepage where the file can be downloaded directly.

you may want to try
http://clapcrest.free.fr/revol/beos/AthlonXP_boot_floppy.zip

This bood floppy image boots BeOS CDs and partitions,
letting you install BeOS normally, reboot with the floppy still in and apply the usual patches (changing mem*_PIII to mem*_default in /system/kernel_intel.patch and /system/lib/libroot.so.patch).

They simply forbid downloading files from sites that aren't the site they host.
this is simply outrageous...
Boycot them.

meanwhile you can still use wget:

wget http://www.bebits.com/bob/13012/APATCH.ZIP

can't download...
