I've actually hacked this program to implement multiple site searching, but unfortunately it got lost when I replaced my hard drive. I'll cobble another one together, and post it.

yeah, makes sence, the roster tries to run the binary, which fails to start if the patch isn't applied as it's not run from the script.

Maybe not. On reflection, I noticed that EVERY other listing under beos_mime/applications is entirely lower-case, including Net+ , ( application/x-vnd.be-npos) and that works, even tho DBGoogle calls application/x-vnd.Be-NPOS. So something's going on I can't pretend to understand. Still, my fix (let's call it a workaround) does work.
But I've noticed a bug in DBGoogle: the big G icon sometimes goes blank. Otherwise a nice app.

I think it will be good if you file bug-report onto bugzilla.mozilla.org, for OS BeOS and platform PC

Wow, good to know, I didn't investigate this.
I'll just update it to have it try both, so hopefully one of the cases will work =)
(just in case they change their mind later =)

Re the Mozilla problem:
It's not DBGoogle's fault; it's Mozilla being a bit schizophrenic.
If you look at Mozilla's File Type it reports its mimesig as
application/x-vnd.Mozilla
but if you look in ~/config/settings/beos_mime/applications you'll see that it's listed as x-vnd.mozilla, with the lower-case m.
Presumably recompiling DBGoogle with a lower case m in the source code would fix it, though I haven't tried.
What I have done is duplicate the mozilla entry in beos_mime/applications, with an upper-case M. That works.

Weird, all those queries work here... don't think I changed anything. Anyway the parsing is still not finished, it should be much smarter, also spaces should be converted to '+' and not '%20', but %20 still works though, only accented chars give me probs.

This is really nice but it has a few problems. It dies if you use a long search query. The error below was created via the search "Ducks with mental illness" The search "farting causes cancer" will also do this. Yes even a legit query like "childrens crafts" will return the error
400 Bad Request
Your client has issued a malformed or illegal request.

I really enjoy this tool! It's a wonderful use of the Deskbar - let's cram more cool stuff in there!

I've been waiting for something like this! Is this app configurable? I.e., could you add different site search URLs for other searchs (IMDb, Yahoo, etd.)?
Thanks!
