Yes. Just my luck Be went out when I finished BeConverter :)
And I'm excited about YellowTab especially since it has some features I thought it wouldn't have. I don't know if i'm allowed to tell it out as I spoke to Bernd (of Yellowtab) to find them out.
Anyway, before new hardware becomes 'unsupported' by BeOS we will need YellowTab's zeta fast.

Dunno I havent tried to new version of this yet. I'll give it a try some time soon but the simpsons joke was from a halloween episode. Homer is the town Oaf & loses his job so they can't afford to feed the kids so Homer throws them in the woods. Lisa has a book of fairy tales they use to keep themselfs safe as the forest they are in contains all the stuff in the book. They come to a bridge (three billy goats) & under it lives a Troll (Played by MOE) Anyway He jumps out in troll fasion & the kids run away then it pans in on him & he says "Maybe I came on too strong... Oh 'm SOOO lonely." ah you'd have to see it.

Yes... adding units is a real pain. Especially in my case where i have attributed files. Hope you get more units done.
But when i was adding units i was under the idea of "selling" BeConverter. But, just when i was done with it, Be went out and i lost hope of selling it. So i gave it free...
Anyway, good luck with Vandeley! Ignore the trolls ;-P

I'm glad you like my app! And I totally understand your point. I'm a bit disappointed in myself for not adding more units but it's tough work! (Ram should agree with me on that =)), however with time I'm sure that more and more units will be added and I will also be sure to add the units you were talking about, perhaps even furlongs ;-)
Ram:
I'm glad I can help =)
chinasaur, Jess:
Yeah those trolls... what should we do with them... =) Although, I'm sort of surprised that misza would be the troll in my case... I know him from BeShare and he didn't seem like the troll kind'a guy.
Jess, I do watch the simpsons but I can't recall that joke, I'm afraid. Btw, does it work now to do negative conversions for you? Refering to one of your earlier posts...

remember the troll is just MOE under the bridge & he's very lonely. ;)
If you don't watch the simpsons you won't get the joke but Kramerica™ might try to sue you.

Keep up your work with Vandeley. It will always help me keep BeConverter alive by trying to make things that are in Vandeley and not in BeConverter and probably vice versa.
Its nice to see such converters... When i first wrote BeConverter I thought such converters would hardly be used (as I very rarely use it myself).
Keep up the good work. I download every new release of Vandeley :)

Why I make this app when there are other better ones?
Well, why did Be do BeOS when there was Mac OS and Windows around? Becouse they wanted something better. Just exactly what I want but it will take some time. Ok, so I could code on it for 2 years without releasing anything and Vandelay would rock but how much fun would that be? I'm a pretty new coder and so I like getting comments and suggestions on what I do.

i've always been a fan of conversion routine, and am happy to see an app onBeOS/Zeta/Osbos. I would suggest though, that you radically increase the number of units you support, and the the categories as well. It's especially fun in the US/UK where we have all kinds of odd measurements. Anyone remember a peck of pickles? How about how many furlongs per fornight is equivalent to to kilometers per hour?
take a look at http://pointa.autodesk.com for a web based converter that covers a lot of unit types (except furlongs dammit)!
any neat job, and cool app

Hm no, using either minus sign works for me.
Actually you only have to choose a new/the same unit in the "to" menu to make a new conversion. I know that's a bit lame and I have changed it in 1.1 so that you can make a new conversion from either menu with the same input. I'm also looking into live updating.

Ok well first off maybe the problem is the key I used to input the minus sign. Does it differinciate between the dask minus & the number pad minus? I never use the number pad. As for the reset feature each time you do a converstion if you want to do another you have to change the input & then the units to somethign else & then back to what you did in the first place if your doing many conversions of the same kind the reset ot constant live text watching would simply reset to its defualt ready position or allways adapt to new selections & input

I have tried to do a negative conversion and it works both with version 1.0 and 1.1 which I'm currently working on. -64°C gives me -83.2°F. Also to check that the conversion is done correctly, I tried to convert -40 from both units which gives me -40 to both units. Just enter a '-' (minus sign) infront of your number without spaces and it should work.
What exactly do you mean by a reset feature?
I'm currently trying to implement a "teaching" feature into version 1.1. But it seems that my current design doesn't allow this to be done in an easy way (?).
Anyway, great to see interest in my app and I'll try my best to make Vandelay better for the next release.

I'd also like to add a few feature requests if you continue this app. Add a reset feature if your doing lots of conversions so you dont have to change the converstions manually in order to select the same ones or make he input allways live & being watched for changes. Also show the math. It would be good for learning to see the formulas to drill it in. If your using this for work then after a while if might stick if your using this to cheat or maybe to aid school kids. I'm gong to be giving my kids a box for christmas & want to load it with the coolest stuff for school & such. let's face it man school can really suck so keeping learning fun & interesting for our kids is a must.
