Having a password is there only to protect high-scores in a multi-user system :) (like mine, my family shares one pc so i needed a password so that others don't use my name or vice versa).
Regarding WPM - Words per minute - it wouldn't be good unless ofcourse the phrase you type in is made so long that it exceeds a minute. Right now the phrase is rather short that even a slow typist would complete it in seconds...

I like the interface, but being forced to have a password and no apparent way to find out WPM instead of CPS is not as cool.
