The BeBook didn't cover that (at least that I found) and so I never really took the time to figure it out.
You can add it to your UserBootScript to launch every time.
Of course, if someone wants to point me in the right direction regarding deskbar persistance, I'd be more than happy to add it in!

Great piece, and it works like a charm.
However, the deskbar replicant does not seem to survive reboots yet. Anyone to confim this?
Thanks a lot!

Checking the "Use NAT (Gateway)" checkbox when adding a new host will resolve the external IP address of the router/gateway/firewall you are behind. It does this by accessing no-ip.com's server, and then no-ip.com sends back the address it saw you connect from, which will be your routers IP address.
You will need to configure the gateway to pass incomming traffic to the proper ports on your machine if you're setting up a router. Linksys routers make this pretty easy. (I use one myself)
As for making this support dyndns.org in the future, I have no plans for that.
Check bebits for dyndns.org clients, I believe there were a few at last count, and one that was a deskbar replicant too.
Hope this clears things up!

The author has a way to tell no-ip each time your IP changes. This is common with dial up and cable/dsl modems. If you want to make your own web server on a beos machine with your own web pages then this is a good tool to have. Your computer must be on when anyone wants to see the pages though. Fire up Poorman or Robinhood or Apache and write an index.html page and try it out.

What method does it use to look up the IP? I ask because I'm behind a LinkSys router at home. I'm hoping it does it via some method other than querying the local machine, I'll check when I get home.
If not, would it be possible for it to query the router itself for it's WAN IP?

Any chance on getting this to support other services (ie: dyndns.org).
