Sounds like it's not a standard CD - it may be a UDF CD.
I had a UDF CD with some videos on, and was amazed when BeOS mounted it and showed me the contents. However, I couldn't load the videos and copying them made 0 byte files (IIRC).
If it was written with a program like direct CD (I'm guessing it's a CD-R with JPEGs) then that is probably the filesystem it uses.
Luckily Tyler's released a new UDF add-on today on bebits! I've not had chance to try it out yet (not on my BeOS box). Hopefully it will work for you (and me).

Thanks for the tips,
It is more than likly that this is the cd filesystem add-on's fault. I think anyway.
Is there an updated version of the cd filesystem add-on?
The thing is I do not want to have win9x. I just want to use BeOS all the time. (otherwise I would just use win9x to see the jpgs)
Any other suggestions?

It's not translator's fault.
I'm not sure why it's like that. It may be that BeOS cd filesystem addon can't read that cd properly. or can't read jpeg2000 files (but it's very doubtful).
If You have cd-rw and cdburner try to copy files under windows, and burn new cd with them. than try to read them under BeOS (or copy to BFS and read next). if it will work, than cd may be screwed (or just burned in a way BeOS addon can't read it properly). if not than i don't know why (unless You burn it the same way as original cd, and addon can't read that way :).

Hi,
I have just recently got a bunch of cd's with jpg files on them. When I tried to see them under BeOS it gave me an error. (with jpeg2000)
I tried to copy them to the BeOS with tracker and it only copied 0bytes files.
I loaded the same CD under win9x and Linux and it was fine.
Another thing I tried: copied a few files under win to the HD and then boot into Beos. BeOS had no problem reading those file after that.
Any ideas, what could be wrong?

Just got image from Jess, it's Greyscale image. And for such images there's option in "Read" settings view - that's because it looks like most BeOS apps can't understand B_GRAY8 color_space.

What's wrong with Becasso's JPEG Translator? What washed-out colors? Never heard anyone complain about this before; please let me know so I can fix it.

It seems to be better than the Becasso one too. The washed-out colours were really annoying.

Just keep on making more translators like this.
By the way, if you're going to write an SVG translator, let me know so I can join in.

BeOS can finally open my 3.39MB JPEG-file. Although it took forever and BeOS started swapping like it was Windows I could actually see part of the image eventually. This is on an Athlon1800XP with 256MB memory I might add.
