both are MP3 encoders, GOGO is faster, LAME allows more quality.
Both are Terminal programs, and all those empoggers, rippers etc almost always use one of them.
But there are graphical frontends for both. So
1)search your system if there is gogo or lame or both already installed in /boot/beos/bin or /boot/home/config/bin
2)them, for convinience, search bebits for either lame or gogo and look for GUI frontends in search results.
Install some and enjoy life:)
MediaConverter rather expects MP3 encoder made in Be API standards, which was by default only part of BeOS PRO and Zeta. So if you use some free version of BeOS, you probably miss it.

Thanks for that app. Nice way to create mp3s. :-)
and very fast too and actually the first and yet only encoding program that runs on my Zeta box. (NewBE).
I just wonder, why the Info I put in and the end of ripping my CD isn´t shown in the CL-Amp...
thx

Sorry dude, that's just the way I set it up - you can edit the script if you like, so that it formats the file names to suit your tastes.

I don't know if it's oggenc or cd-empogger, but for some reason it's converting all of the titles to lowercase (even though cddblinkd got them right!). Why is this?

Ok Jess, I got that bug fixed where all the tracks would be missed on the first CD to be encoded. I had missed out a line in the script that meant in a certain situation, the CD volume name was never established so the script didn't know where the CDDA files were. Thanks again for alerting me to this.

Jess, thanks for bringing this to my attention. I have noticed strange things happening when running this script on my other PC. Seems to only be the first CD it tries to encode that causes problems; may be a timing issue - something to do with the read speed of the CD-ROM perhaps. I will look into this and see if I can cure the problem ;o)

I noticed this can use CDDBlinkd so I grabbed it. Works pretty good but has some issues. When it's done encoding it tries to eject "Audio CD" & with CDDBlinkd running the cd becomes named what it is & not the generic "Audio CD" So it does not eject the cd properly & I'm not quite sure why but it also will finnish encoding with out encoding at all some times. It will ask for the CD & artist name & once you type them in it says it's done would you like to rip another... at this point you can type Y & the cd will not eject & you will noticed it didnt encode anything... once it asks you to put another cd in just hit enter & it will encode the cd it didnt encode nor eject properly this time... nothing major but maybe somethign to look into if you want & have time Tom or maybe I can too if I score some space time. Kinda stuck on some nasty web development & scripting of my own atm :(

well out of Laziness I have been avioding ripping my cd's,
well that & fear I'll run out of Hard Drive space :) Anyway
I tried CD-empogger today & have to say thanks Tom Very VERY
nice. Good flow & nice if you want to rip a whole cd quick as
it does not make you select each track. Lameenc would be much
better if in the track selection methods (as there are 2) a
third would be added for "all". In any case I like this & the
feature to rip more if your doing a bunch is nice how it
ejects for you. This script has a nice flow & I reccomend it
to any one wanting to rip cd's quick & easy.
