firefox3

gcc4 has never been a problem, it just added some more work as gcc2.95 was a bit more strict. (I'm getting tired of everyone who says gcc4 is the problem.)

It's Cairo that is the holdup, when there is a functional port of it, firefox3 can proceed, but afaik there are no devs interested in working on firefox3.

Firefox 3 now that GCC 4 is available?

Is this possible? If so, is there any news?

re Netpositive bookmarks

I wish I knew how to disable them too. I have the same problem that causes Foxmarks to give an error when synchronizing bookmarks.
I tried just deleting Net Positive bookmarks but they come back again after restart.

Thanks

Now that we can log in again, I can say thanks for keeping up with the Firefox updates.

Every time Firefox starts it import the Netpositive bookmarks, anyone knows how to disable it?
The only thing it do on my computer is an empty sub menu inside Bookmarks menu (i don't have bookmarks), and also make Foxmarks plug in fail to synchronize.

We *do* have a port of gnash in the work.
But it's not stable yet.
Btw it's not gnash itself which requires gcc2, but the Boost library it uses, which does, at least for recent versions. Michael Lotz reimplemented the needed parts without the heavy templates so it would work with gcc2 AFAIK.

NO. Gnash is unlikely to get ported to BeOS & Haiku. Which both currently use gcc 2.95.

This may change when Haiku switches over to gcc 4.x

The postscript/ghostscript printing code is still in development and not yet accepted into the Mozilla code base. The Firefox builds on this page are created from CVS code, so developmental code can't be included. That's why we have the "bleeding edge" page. Rest assured, though, we're in the process of permanently enabling postscript printing.

Thanks for 2.0.0.12 - working well

... but I found, that gs-printing is not more present ? In 2.0.0.12pre it was. What is the problem ? Nevertheless I am very satisfied with this actual version of BeOS-Firefox. Thanks to all developers !

Nobody here is going to be able to help you with this problem, this specifically relates to Firefox for BeOS.

Peobably those do depend on SVG support, and standard SVG support now depends on Cairo.
And we dropped trunk build just because it 1)requires Cairo ( 2) depends on gcc >3.0)

just curious - why canvas is not used in BeOS builds

Bezilla Team - I really appreciate all your wonderful and amazing working in porting Firefox and Seamonkey to BeOS.

I was just curious - why canvas is not used in BeOS builds?

Thanks,

I've had similar trouble with any site that uses SSL (which the ones you speak of probably do), on both BONE and net_server, on two different machines. Though in my case, the result is usually a complete browser freeze within a few minutes of use.
I was under the impression that there were known issues with SSL?

Also make sure you have enough RAM (512MB suggested) -- Firefox on all platforms consumes very large quantities. If it's starting to swap, that'd definitely explain the slowdowns prior to crashing.

Very likely it is networking issue. BeOS PE uses Netserver and BeOS BONE/Dano uses BONE.

Netserver was not that stable or good. This is why it is better to use BeOS PE + BONE, Dano or Zeta. ( the last two are the better choices ).

This is just my guess. I haven't used BeOS with Netserver in a long time. You could try installing BONE onto your PE & then get the right FireFox for it. And see if that works out better for you.

For some reason when I use this in beos pe it wont load certain pages. I can surf google and bebits fine but when I try to go to ebay and login it wont load the page. Same way as when I go to newegg. The first few pages load fine but then it slows down until it wont load pages at all. I noticed seamonkey does the same under pe but both the builds I use on my dano partition work fine. Any ideas what the problem could be?
Thanks

re: Update
 By tigerdog - Posted on November 4, 2007 - 16:30:40   (#22050)
Current version when comment was posted: 2.0.0.9
There are two fixes for bugs in all platforms having to do with page layout not working right in certain circumstances. The release notes page has a link to "problems that were found" so you can try the test cases in the individual bugs.

While it's not absolutely necessary to update, if you notice some pages working differently with 2.0.0.8, this new version may fix the problem.

This time most of fixes in FF do target Windows platform, but usually fast "point-release" updates are to fix security issues (though, AFAIK majority of security problems exist in FF for Windows only, again:) and some noticeable regressions, like crashes or bad memleaks.

Really amazing speed in updating...
