As much as we report the negative bugs, I think its time we report also when it works really well.
I'm running Zeta 1.21 and this latest version so far works like a charm. Its much faster than the SeaMonkey version I have. The only minor glitch was it hung when i enabled "Always clear private data when I close Bon Echo" and ALSO "Ask me before clearing".
Apart from that, great job and kudos to the FF team!!
Keep up the good work guys, much appreciated!

You shouldn't install that way unless you want that kind of problem. Right-click firefox-bin, choose Filetype, save and close. Restart. Firefox should start to work.

The last bunch of firefox updates have worked really well when I just dropped them overtop of the last copy. This one doesn't launch properly though. Processor usage goes up for a second and then nothing happens, no window ever appears. Even from the console, no messages are given launching firefox.
If this is actually a bug I'll go report it, but maybe somebody knows something I don't?
Thanks,
Kev

... for omitting the top-level directory. This was a manual error; prior to distributing, I manually unzip the installer produced by the build process, set the appropriate version in the Firefox resource file, then rezip. This time, I rezipped from inside the folder. I have fixed this and any downloads from here on out should have the top-level folder people expect.

I don't seem to understand why so much effort it seems, getting net+ bookmarks to work each version. Who cares, I say. Net+ is only good as a manual reader. Say, let's import our manual bookmarks ! No. Ever since my first QF version the net+ bookmarks have been blocked out and so far no majority cares to have it back.

Yes, but also people like the person just now did, has been asked to report them as bugs when they first talked about it, but still don't report. Ok, fine. But then after a month or two you get complaints from the very same person.
I agree that it should be easier to find the bug-reporting address, put that is not what bothers me. I don't mind pointing them in the right direction or even give a hint or two on how to fill out bug reports.
I'm tired of people, who after being pointed in the right direction, don't do anything but whine several months later. If they don't do anything how can they expect me to do anything?

If you want people to follow certain procedure when providing feedback, you need to spell it out, right on this BeBits page. Do you mean Mozilla.org or Bezilla.org? What page? Make a big red sign that says "Report your bugs here!" linking to wherever is the desired form, or forum.
Add a Homepage link to this BeBits entry, and maybe update the "contact publisher" email address (bezilla@xentronix.com ?) so comments on BeBits get forwarded to someone (a developer mailinglist?).

maybe, if they fixed these bugs I have had in the last version:
alt+d would be add bookmark instead of the F6 function
with uploading websites, choosing a file, then going back and choosing another file while the path is in the field does not crash the browser
BONE version bugs
bookmarks: do they open after the browser is been used for awhile ?
pages loading: do I have to re-size the window to get new pages to load, when I have been browsing for awhile?
uploading more than one file at once: browser freezes.
uploading: uses 100% cpu
download window: does the contents of the window get drawn after I have done a few downloads and then decide to open the download manager?
leaving the browser on secure pages: freezes the browser. Example would be ncix.com secure log in.
Do images show after being loaded, after say about 400 large size are viewed in one session ?

New release! Thank you! :)
I think I spot a bug, which was also in the previous version: When right-clicking and selecting "Properties" on a Bookmark or Bookmark Folder, the resulting properties window does not receive mouse input. It does however respond to keyboard input. (Tabbing between fields, entering text, check boxes with space, pushing buttons with the enter key.) Could it be that BViews are overlayed in an unfortunate way?
Plus, a pet peeve of mine: the zip file hasn't got a top folder, so it kind of falls apart when unzipped. Potentially making a mess on the desktop or wherever.
Anyhow.. Thanks! Keep up the great work. :)

I don't think that's a bug, but a changed behaviour. Also it has nothing to do with our port. You can always try and report it as a bug at bugzilla.mozilla.org but I think it'll be rejected.

In the current BONE version. If a userChrome.css file is in the chrome folder, it is ignored. If a prefs.js file is in the defaults/profile folder that too is ignored.
Tested with blank profiles, fresh unzip of the zip file. I noticed this, of course when I downloaded the 2.0 version when it came out but now, I actually care about getting this fixed.

I do see something about javascript on the lower left side of Firefox, no error or anything, after selecting

Is there a possibility to compile the Firefox 2 builds without this "dom.storage.enabled" object?
If you look into "about:config", you will see that this "Giant Cookie" is activated per default. As far as I know there is no possibility to deactivate this in the "Preferences" panel. The Firefox user has to set this to "false" manually in order to protect his privacy.

Many of the behaviors described as bugs in Firefox 2.0 (not just bezilla bugs but across platforms) are intentional changes to Firefox behavior, designed in by the Mozilla core development team. Items like the tabs behaviors outlined by Mr.X have been debated in detail in the mozilla forums before such changes are made. Those interested can look at forum postings linked across the top of http://www.mozillazine.org/

go into the about:config from the address bar
search browser.tabs.loadFolderAndReplace and double click and it will turn to true. Next time open in all tabs is chosen, only NEW tabs appear. This and many other good tweaks will be in my coming up 3.0 QuickFox. I am only going to make a BONE version for now. It is almost done except for the installer. I keep on holding back though because this 2.0 version of FF just has so many bugs and annoyances and I dont think it would be wise to base a new QuickFox version on an unstable build.

What you describe is not BeOS specific, it happens in the official Firefox builds, too. In my opinion, it's pretty anoying, and it should open everything that is NEW in NEW tabs.

Just flaming that a large upload in progress, an almost done irrecoverable forum post, were disrupted when I chose the 'open all in tabs' option in a bookmarks folder. I would assume that normal behavior is to open all NEW tabs instead of disrupting the all ready open tabs and opening new tabs for the remainder of the bookmarks. Is this how the feature works ?

When I am uploading something onto the web form with in FF, after I choose the file and the path shows up in the field and hit 'browse' again FF will immediately terminate. To advert this, what I do is just delete the file path shown in the field before hitting the browse button again before uploading.
Easy replication: get the BONE version of FF. Go on here http://illhostit.com/ and hit 'Browse...' , select ('open') a file to upload. Click browse again. Termination appears.

Unfortunately, FF can open links from other apps (Tracker included) only in new windows.
But all in-browser links should work in all expected ways. There are bit more settings about "tabs versus windows" than that one you mentioned though.
In-tab opening for external links work atm in SeaMonkey only.

Is canvas disabled on these builds? I can't seem to view a tutorial page on them; I get this error:

I am unable to duplicate the font-related hang mentioned below. I downloaded the linedrawing font, installed and verified font was able to display using the Zeta FontView app. I then started Firefox2 and used Tools/Options/Content/Default Font to set the font as the default. I then displayed the BeBits main page, where the "headlines" section (uses default font) was displayed using line drawing characters. No crash.
Also, since I don't imagine many people will use a line-drawing font as their default, this may be a low-priority bug at best.

When in Tools/Options and I choose TeleTextLineDrawDH it will hang BeOS and a hard reset (or ctrl alt del)is required in order to use the system once more. And then the next time you go to load firefox the restore session window appears but before the window contents are drawn the whole system freezes once again. System does not freeze when I use the FontDemo utilty and choose TeleTextLineDrawDH .

Firefox.bin asks for the libmozjs.so file. Firefox.bin can't find it because it is named with upper case characters. There are seven *.so files named in uppercase. I stopped the *.so nag by renaming in lower case, but it still would not launch. I have emailed the bezilla team with this info.

Hi,
I'm trying to use an external application to subscribe to RSS feeds (in Options Panel)
I just selected a simple external application like 'alert' and I would like to see an alert box with the rss url when I decide to subscribe to (well.. only for testing)
It doesn't work and running firefox with "-jsconsole" option it pop-ups this error (as soon as I try to make a subscription with 'alert'):
Error: Cc['@mozilla.org/browser/shell-service;1'] has no properties
Source File: file:///boot/apps/Internet/firefox/components/FeedConverter.js
Line: 318
I'm doing something wrong or is just an unimplemented feature?
Thanks!
