Re:PCMCIA?

No, the PCMCIA is not supported at all. From what I know, it is not even a true Audigy and does not contain the emu10k chip. Everything is emulated in software, and without the spec's, it's not easy.

PCMCIA?

Hi, all,
Has anyone tried this with the PCMCIA Audigy card (for a laptop)?

Debugger activated in this release?

Version .2 works fine with my Audigy on my BP6 machine, but there was a kernel process "dprintf" that was spiking both my processors sporadically which apparently came from this driver. Uninstalling .2 and trying another Audigy driver, the spikes went away. Is there some debugging still activated in this release?

Sharing interrupts...

My devices do share interrupts, and I have no problem. Though, it depends on what devices share interrupts. I know there are problems even under other OSes when the soundcard share its interrupts with the videocard, for example.

Shared Interrupts Bad

I can vouch for shared interrupts being a problem with BeOS. I couldn't use USB or SBLive while I had devices sharing an IRQ. Once they all had their own IRQs, all was well.

After playing with my bios I got everything to work. I don&t ever remember having to turn PNP OS off before but I did and now the Audigy works like a charm. I still downloaded the link that you posted and will send you logs whenever possible. Funny, if I wouldn&t have spent the weekend trying to get linux installed on my roomie&s PC, I never would have thought to look at the bios settings. He is running BeOS now so all is well. Thanks again Greg.

Shared interrupts?

I have heard of problems if the soundcard shares an interrupt with another pci device. You might try moving to another slot, or trying to modify the interrupt number in the Devices panel.
Also, this link is compiled to output debug info:
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/gsc70/AudigyInstall3.zip

It will create a file 'Audigy.log' in the home directory. Send me the log file if you could.
Also- I've been trying to add some Audigy2 support. Some information was recently released by Creative. I've been working on midi support as well. It turned out to be harder than I expected due to the fact that Creative uses some non-standard midi port access registers.

Looks nice but no sound

I am using BeOS 5.0.3 Pro and I have tried the driver with both Dano and Max 2.1 but I get the same results. Media player plays the files just fine but I don't hear anything from my speakers. I understand that it only supports stereo sound right now and that is fine as I currently only use my Klipsh 4.1 in 2.1 mode do to a bad unit, but I am getting nothing at all. I have turned the speakers up as loud as they can go as well as tried the hacked mixer and still nothing. Is there something else that needs to be done or is it possible that I have a rev. that is not compatible with the current driver? My particular card is about 8 months old, Audigy Live Platinum. Please advise.

Audigy2 would be cool

A patch for this driver for Audigy2 would be really cool.
I am an absolute BeOS newbie (have installed it yesterday) but i am really impressed and when an at least basic driver (audio playback + MIDI) for Audigy2 will be available, i will start porting RTSynth to BeOS.

Audigy2 quite different

Thanks for the update.
I found out that the Audigy2 is pretty different, so it doesn't surprise me. As soon as I get some information, I will try make the fixes. As far as the C-Media chip goes, it is completely different from the emu10k2. Sorry can't help there!

Dose not work with Audgy2

Dose not work with the new Audgy 2 card. The media player and Cl-Amp will play the song but you get no sound from the speakers. I am using BeOS 5 PE installed on it's own partition.

Try here: http://www.bebits.com/app/2341
If this doesn't work for your card try posting your model number / PCI ID in the comments there and maybe someone can add it, since source code is available for the C-Media driver.

Thank you!

The driver works fine on Dano, so those who use it, go get it.
