Can't connect to hub

I'm in one of 3 local networks with different IP address ranges. I have an access to all of them. I'm in the first network, DC hub is in the second one and BeDirectConnect does not see the hub (Search finds nothing but local Test server). Another DC client for Windows (StrongDC?) allows to enter IP address of hub manually, would be great to add this feature to BeDirectConnect.

I could do this myself, but there are no sources available :(

No File Sharing

Not having file sharing doesn't automatically imply that program doesn't have file downloading too. But I think in this case there is support for neither.

There is no reason to be impolite, every one can have "ants in ZetaPants" one day ;)

Go on, tease VitViper until he finishes this program, he has been lazy too long ;).

Not at all

Are you allways this impatient? This is just unfriendly and in this case it is an absolute waste of time and BeBits-space. Normally I do not say "Go Read", but you could at least read the application description before posting questions (and especially before posting again with "?", "How?", "What?", "Why does nobody help?" and the like). The description states clearly "This version is the first public release. It does not support file sharing yet, but chat is 100% working". So you probably won't be able to download anything.

How?

How?

I've been using oDC in Windows and it seems to be a filesharing-program, but this DC doesn't have the possibillity to download files...? What am I doing with it then? :P

vitviper, that's smart, but a bit egocentric. You know, "if everyone should do it that way... bla bla bla" ;-)

I suggest you to leave an option to set the name of the client being sent to the server, and how many hubs the user are connected to etc.

BeDC++ sems kind of banned in alot of hubs for example :-//

File sharing?

When do you think you will have file sharing done?

not based on dcplusplus ;)

BDC is not based on DC++, mainly because it is GPL :D. I am going to try to support DC++ features though (like the nifty file-list retreival method it uses ;) ). I am probably going to lie about the # of hubs you're connected too... Too many hub owners are kicking ppl based on slots/hub... and then they limit the max number of hubs u can be connected too ;) . I modded DC++ for myself to throttle all outgoing connections to 500 bytes/sec because of this ;) I'll share my 60GB, good luck getting it within this century ;)

Ah, nevermind...

I guess it would be pretty hard for BeDC to be based on dcplusplus when BeDC uses a BSD license and dcplusplus uses a GPL license...

And I guess I missed the comment about starting from scratch :P

Is this based on dcplusplus?

Just curious, is this partly based on the open-source dcplusplus originally written in MS Visual C++ 6.0? (http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net)

I use dc++ 0.20 myself (in windows, gah), and find it extremely solid, and in my opinion better than the original "adware" version that was released by neo-modus. I'm not sure how much of the code would be reusable anyhow...

I suspect you should be careful with the share-faking stuff, ops will start updating their hubscripts to ban BDC...

in 1.0

BDC will be full featured in 1.0 but file *downloading* may be in as early as .7 or .8 :)

Soo.. Any timeline when filesharing will be done? ;)

It wasn't just me ;)

BDC was originally started by Vegard Wærp, and I got added to to project. After that, it just died. I went on to Ozone glory, while Vegard had other things to deal with. So the code just sat in CVS. Eventually, I got sick of Windows and Ozone, and grab the BDC source again :D
The source that Vegard scared the living ***** outta me, so I decided to start from scratch using his code as a resource. I would also like to take this moment to thank him for his help! I would have never gotten BDC holding a connection if he hadn't fixed my $Lock/$Key challenge code ;). I hope he continues to contribute to my "BugMaster" coding ;) (in case ppl didn't get the TBJ post about BDC, I posted it ;)).

Finally

This is exactly what BeOS needs..
DirectConnect is the best FileSharing application ever.

VitViper, any thought on creating a HubServer software for BeOS.. so we can have a serverclient?

If you running a server.. setup a BeOS channel.. so we can spread the gospel =)
Many Thanks VitViper! Keep that good work up!
/Konrad
