Neat

Personally I prefer Calvin and Hobbes to Garfield, especially since my morning paper has Garfield:

"Calvin Hobbes" "http://www.ucomics.com/calvinandhobbes" "/comics/ch" "http://images.ucomics.com"

works.

But what about error handling? Neither Dilbert nor Snoopy seem to be working tonight, and all I can do is CtrlAltDelete out of Daily Strip, comment them out, and try again...

New version.

Just posted an updated version. With the comments I put in the code it should be easy enough for you guys to add your favorite strips. If you do, please send the line you added to the "strips" block so I can add it to the next version.

The only new strip is Doonesbury. As soon as I have some time, I will change the script to accept other types of strips. Check the cool status text and progress bar. :)

You can always use ComicStrips (http://www.bebits.com/app/1505) to generate a HTML file with the strip you want an then set up a Net+ replicant.

Be Creative.

About new strips.

There are some problems with the new strips suggested so far:

1 - The current script does not handle strips that are too big (i.e that would not fit on the monitor vertically or horizontally) as it does not have a scrollbar. I can add that eventually but those strips will have to wait a bit until I get around implementing that.

2 - The strip page must have a clear way to identify the strip in the page. At least one of the strips posted didn't have an easy way to be identified in the page.

That said, I will see what can do about those. I also want to add Non-Sequitur. :)

BTW, tyhe next version will have the script completelly commented so it will help anyone trying to learn Rebol. Believe me, it is worth it.

Some other strips I'd like to see included are:
- Penny Arcade: www.penny-arcade.com
- Sinfest: www.sinfest.net
- Jerkcity: christpuncher.jerkcity.com

Cheers!

It sure would, wouldn't it? :) Too bad Rebol is a scripting language that knows nothing about BeOS specific features. :) Anyway, if I ever consider doing it in C++ (and I know it will be a lot more time consuming then the 5 minutes it took me to do this one), I willkeep your suggestion in mind. :)
