at moment i reinstalled MediaKitBeta1 which supports 1102/2 via gamedriver, seems working ok. I will try emuxki again later, when have more time for experiments, and this new system is more carefully tested for other issues.

this driver hasn't been tested a lot on multiple cpus system. it could help to get tracelogs of the driver if you got some. locking issues are a bit hard to know when i don't own a dual cpu system to test it.
Additionally maybe try to know if the problem comes from something else. There seems to be working reports on dual cpu systems in the past.

I got recently gift from jonas.kirilla - Dual PIII-550 system, in order to workout Mozilla/Firefox threadsafety and locking issues.
And then it happened - same BeOS setup as worked nicely on single Duron 800 now always crashes if SB Live! 5.1 (1102/2) is inserted. Removing emuxki driver stopped also crashing.
KDL reports vary from time to time. First time it was bug at midi_server start, second something in creating node in dev_fs. I can try to watch that info more carefully if it helps (with symbols enabled in kernel debug).

Did you try building and replacing the multi_audio.media_addon and the mixer.media_addon from the openbeos CVS? I found that it made all the differnce in the world for me.

Hello,
I have encountered some strange behaviour with this driver, and am currently at a loss as to why it's happening, or how to fix it. Firstly, I would like to say great job on this driver. The sound quality far surpasses that of the stock Be driver! I would very much like to use this driver as a replacement, however cannot do so (yet).
The best way I can explain this problem is:
- open and play an mp3 of <insert track here> with <insert favourite Be media player here>, and start it playing.
- open up your favourite browser (Net+), and surf to your favourite website (obviously bebits).
- start scrolling the window contents and/or move the window about the screen.
- At this point, samples are dropped from the audio stream, and will keep dropping until scrolling or moving the window around is stoppped.
I've tried fetching the sources from cvs and building the driver myself to no avail. Any help/info/feedback/monetary offers/etc would kindly be appreciated. If there is anything I can do to help out, please let me know. As an aside, I haven't any IRQ/DMA conflicts, and have tried different video cards, PCI slots (for the SBLive!), and so on. Keep up the great work, feel free to contact me if I can help in any way, as I'm quite anxious to get this driver working on my end.

I just updated my openbeos sources, compiled the driver, installed it, along with the multi_audio.media_addon, and the openbeos mixer.media_addon, and no more stuttering :-)
I wish everything in life were that simple to fix.

Does anyone else have problems with stuttering when using this driver under a moderate system load? If I'm just browing the web with NetPositive, and scrolling the browser window, I get some very noticable stuttering. Playing back video, with nothing else going on, will cause the same audio stuttering.
I have two cards in my machine, an Audigy1 (using this driver) and SB 16 PCI (using the ensoniq drive). If I change my audio output to the ensoniq card and restart the media server, I don't get the stuttering. I've even tried swapping the slots that the two souncards are in (thinking the Audiy may have an IRQ conflict with another device), but I still get the stuttering on the Audigy.
Any ideas?

Korli, the list of ports on the Audigy Livedrive is as follows:-
> SPDIF in
> SPDIF out
> Optical in
> Optical out
> Headphones (should offer the option to disable speakers when headphones are used)
> Mic2/Line2 shared input
> Aux 2 input
> MIDI in (untested)
> MIDI out (untested)
> Infra Red Remote
I can help test out if you decide its worth supporting.

I have Sound Blaster Live 5.1 with analog 5.1 accoustic system. With your driver all channels is working, but there is an issue: Subwoofer receives all frequency range: 20Hz-20000Hz, but required frequency range for subwoofer is 20Hz-80Hz. Also it will be great if there will be posibility to control higher frequency range for subwoofer manually, and also volume for center channel and subwoofer (like in Windows drivers)

With Alpha 8 I was able to use VideoRecorder to record video and audio clips from my TV tuner with my Audigy, though the video and audio would eventually get out of sync. With Alpha 10, though, I seem to be completely unable to record from the Line-In using VideoRecorder. I've made sure to unmute the "AC97 Record In" in the Playback mixer, unmute the "Record" in the Record mixer (and made sure it's set to "Line in"). and unmute the "Line in" in the "AC97 Mixer" mixer :-) The same settings work when recording in PersonalStudio and SoundPlay, but not with VideoRecorder.
Any ideas?

the first and second output were reversed, and the R5 mixer doesn't support the 4 channels output. This is why you had no sound.

After installing alpha 10 version, I have no sound output from my card.
I noticed in the Media Preferences, under Audio Settings that I have only output 0, instead of output 0/1 (like in the prevous version).
Soundplay don't even start to play: seems like when there are no audio driver installed...
I went back to version alpha 8.

in fact, you can't record output with ac97 on audigy 1/2 because output doesn't go through it.
So i added a control on the recording tab, and you now can add the output in the record input #1.
Though you got a second recoding input #2 which was already recording output (this is a feature of the card).
Hope it works now.

you have to open the media preferences, go to the emuxki node

then choose Record
Make sure you record Stereo Mix and unmute AC97 Record In and Record.
Hope it helps.

how do i record the wav output?
i am using an audigy 2 which has flawless playback in dano, using both the multi-audio addon and the alpha8 driver.

This driver is excellent! Works perfectly with my good old SbLive! Value. The sound quality is 10 times better than with the original driver included with BeOS. The sound is now crisp and clean, not to mention MUCH louder! It's also nice to tap into the cards other options as well. Thanks!!

If the original driver doesn't work with your Live, you have a problem with your machine (bios settings for example, pnp os disabled). See Devices panel too.
Once working, emuxki would work. Good luck !

Please tell me what appears in KDL. you can type sc to have the stackcrawl.
BTW you can disable useraddon at boot to avoid loading emuxki. If you use emuxki debug version, you can send me a file emuxki.log found in your home directory. Thanks in advance.

to adamk: you can hear what you are recording because the ac97 manages also the mixer on SBLive! (Front output only). Recording with SoundRecorder is working in 48khz (in SoundPlay as well), but VideoRecorder may not handle well the current requirements of the Multiaudio addon (16bits, 48khz, 2048 bytes buffer).
to TimR: Make sure you use the front output on the card. If you use the rear output you won't hear what you record and you won't be able to use the volume controls. This is because the rear output is handled differently from the front output (not by ac97). The sample rate is currently only 48khz.
to procton: yes the mixer controls make glitches when moved. Not a big problem as you said but in the Multiaudio addon, volume changes are handled by the same thread as buffer exchanges with the MediaKit. Lots of volume changes = lags in buffer exchanges. I don't know how this can be fixed nicely. Maybe another thread... :( , or a longer queue for buffers (currently one entry).
to rcarrjr: can't say what happens with your "special" usb controller. Maybe it is a bad implementation of the USB spec.
