There are not that hard to burn this (as it would without a cue file).
If you can burn orther .cue files then it's no different.
just open .cue from nero and burn

actually, upon further experimentation, the true culprit of my 'hang on boot' was the enable multiprocessor support.
the same with BeOS Developer Edition.

Talkback is not really the best place to get help and advice. It's great for posting questions, comments, suggestions, and reviews but not really for support. There are a number of BeOS forums, for example at www.begroovy.com and www.beosjournal.org where there are regular posters who do their best to help out everyone.
I've always found the community extremely helpful and friendly.
I hope you like BeOS!

It would be nice if there were more up to date drivers. For instance my Matrox Millenium G550 isn't, while a quite good driver exists, available here on BeBits.
And, it would be very very nice too if some basic VESA mode was set, in the case the videocart isn't supported. Yes I know you can choose it from the boot menu but, hey, imagine the situation :
you : Hey my best-friend! Yo! Come on, I'll show on your PC what is BeOS!
your best friend : Hummm... Welll... Okay let's go but it have to be nice, really nice... I prefer Windows, you know...
you : Yeah, yeah. Come On, look at this! BeOS boots fast!
your best friend : Oh yes! God!
you : Wow now look at this beautiful desk.. Urgl!
your best friend : Beautiful? Wait! It's in gray-scale!
you : Well, yes, no! It's because your videocard isn't supported... Wait! Look at this... I'll reboot and set something so you'll see colors...
your best friend : Wow no it's so ugly! Remove that from my PC!!! I don't want to see it anymore!
you : Hummm. Okay...
Do you see? ;-)
You can set it though the boot-menu but it's always a good thing to boot in at least 640x480x 256 COLORS.
And I presume there's some more drivers to include in XBEOX...
It's a very good job anyway, I mean I really like it!!! For me it's like a rescue-disk too. You can move files from one disk to another for instance when Windows is completely crashed. You can reinstall bootman after another OS erased it... I just hate floppy disks, they aren't trusty enough in my eyes. Always go wrong at the bad moment.
Again, good job! Continue and do another one like that!

I was wanting to make a updated DEMO CD like this. A Demo CD with some new drivers and patches can only help the BeOS community. It took me a long time to find out how to run BeOS from the CD. It would be nice to have a distro just like the R4.5 demo to save info to a floppy too. Most beos users realize that there are many disto's based on PE and that they are usually similar in function. The new user is basically the ones that benefit from these distros. They are the future of BeOS ya know. We know it is fun and need more coders working on the next real upgrade of beos.

I mean no offence Jess, but I think you may also have missed the point. Granted, you can boot into BeOS "live" from any installer CD, but how many newbies are going to think of hitting Ctl-Alt-Del during the installer, let alone restarting the desktop? (For that matter, how many newbies think to hit space-bar during the installer to get into Safe Mode?)
What's more, if people are going to use this regularly, can they really be bothered agreeing to the license, ctl-alt-del, restart desktop, minimize installer, *every* single time?
A newbie won't think of this, and that's why this CD is good - it gives them a chance to try BeOS and see how *easy to use* it is out of the box. That's important. And I agree with you Jess that this doesn't need to be a separate distribution. It would be better if each BeOS distribution (including Zeta) gave two options at startup:
I want to:
(*) Run BeOS directly from the CD-ROM
( ) Install BeOS to my hard drive
That would be simple and clear for newbies, fast enough for experienced users, and should satisfy everybody.
One other comment I have to make is about the name, XBEOX. Unless this runs on Microsoft's Xbox machine, the name is *very* misleading. The last thing we need is for newbies to become even more confused - I agree with you again there Jess :)

I thin you guys fail to realize that ANY BeOS install cd can be run off the cd. This not special in any way other then he may have altered the bootscript.cd to start Tracker & Desbar along with most other servers. This is nothing special - if you burn my old install cd - the Max edition - or developers edition to CD ALL can be used this same way - boot off it agree to the license do a ctrl alt del & click restart the desktop then minimise the installer nothing special sorry. All BeOS cd's are LIVE. What do you think the cd is? It's BeOS running off the cd "LIVE" & it copies itself to the selected hard drive. Drop this Buzzword "Live CD" since any time you make a cd of BeOS it's a LIVE CD.

I think both concerns are important. Having a bootable CD to show off BeOS to the skeptical is very cool - Linux and QNX do it, and it allows you to demo it without the effort and time of doing an install.
I also agree that having too many 'distros' of BeOS floating around is potentially counterproductive. Keep in mind though that there are really only three at this point: PE Max, Developer, and Live. IMO it would make a lot of sense to roll Live's bootability into the next PE Max release, as PE Max is the version a curious NewBe would benefit most from.

I think the point is that this is a Live CD.In other words you don't have to install BeOS,
you just boot and use it from the CD, like Knoppix does with Linux.
It's perfect when you want to show the OS to a friend or a co-worker.

This sound no differant then any other install cd so what the point? I myself in the past had made an install for my site BeWicked & while I'd like to still distribute the updated version of it I give out now to customers & friends the growing number of people making these iso has started to bug me & many others makeing n00bs confused & us look like a corridor of mirrors like the linux community. "Which of all these is right for me?" they will ask. "What's the differance?" I think your better off to save you bandwidth & not host these & for those who DO want to keep an updated PE version thats n00b friendly start a structured goal & get ALL the people making these in on it so you can work on a democraticly put together SINGLE iso & stop confusing people.
