Seems that the libmoreposix stuff does compile now but the internationalization support doesn't work quite stable. I'm going to make tests if it works better without it. Also making a binary package is hard, because it spreads it's files in many different places and the distribution script doesn't yet work on BeOS.

Mentioned your dilema when a couple people on BeShare asked where loved.com has gone, seems we have an offer to mirror your site. Check your email, hotmail and/or loved.com(hopefully that still works) accounts.
Being an Australian as well I know how much it sucks here.
As for centericq, looks like Monni is real close...
problems currently seem to be centred around libmoreposix.
Seeing he's compiling on a P166 it takes a little time to make progress. ;)

sorry for my rant.
i've got a few finance issues which i am trying to sort out. i'll bring the site back online when i get home from work in about 8 hours time.
i'll also research some free file sharing sites and see what's around so i can reduce my costs while still compiling and releasing BeOS software.
i'll have a look at centrecq as well.
if you want to contact me at work the address is peter_j_moore at national.com.au
cheers

It sucks to have to boot out of my favorite OS just to talk to peeps who use MSN Messenger or Yahoo! - I hope CenterICQ will compile successfully, and soon. Too bad I'm not a programmer :(

Currently some work is being done to get centericq (an ncurses multi im client) to compile on beos, hopefully if it can be compiled it would be an excellent base for a Be multi im client as it has native support for ICQ, AIM, Yahoo, MSN, Jabber and IRC.
http://konst.org.ua/centericq/
Here's a quick run down on features.
Centericq is a text mode menu- and window-driven IM interface that supports the ICQ2000, Yahoo!, AIM, MSN, IRC and Jabber protocols. Actually, it was written since I didn't find any usable software of this kind that would suit me perfectly. The recent version of the program is 4.9.1 and a brief list of its features follows.
Text mode user interface
Based on the ncurses library
Provides windows, menus and dialogs
Configurable color schemes
Ability to use the program remotely via telnet or ssh
Configuration is done with dialogs
Support for displaying Hebrew and Arabic texts
UI messages translated into 15 languages
General instant messaging features
ICQ, Yahoo!, AIM, MSN, IRC and Jabber are supported
Sending, receiving and forwarding events
Command line parameters for sending events through an already running instance
Mass-sending events
Contact list groups support
Configurable sounds for specific events and users
External programs to process incoming events
Viewing users' personal data
Updating self user info
List of ignored users
Configurable servers' hostnames and port numbers
ICQ support
Sending and receiving messages, URLs, contacts and SMSes
Receiving e-mail express and web pager messages
Delivery of SMSes through e-mail gateways supported by Mirabilis
Sending SMSes to any phone numbers, feature to send from the command line
Searching for users by their UINs, through White Pages and by keywords
Random chat: searching for availble persons and setting own chat group
Registering of new UINs
Setting own and reading others' away messages
Server-based contact lists
Controllable visibility and invisibility for specific users
Peer-to-peer port range specification
Yahoo! support
File transfers
Conferencing
Fetching of custom status messages
Typing notifications
MSN support
Phone information fetching
Typing notifications
Jabber support
Users directory search
SSL secured connections
vCard information: both fetching and updating
Registration on services supported by server
Invisible mode
Groupchat
IRC support
Support for private and channel-wide chat
Showing IRC contacts on the list as well as detecting their being online
Advanced user listing modes
NickServ authentification support
File transfers
The PING command
Password protected channels
Other
Builds and works under Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, Sun Solaris and MacOS X/Darwin
Script for migrating contact list and history from licq, kxicq2, gnomeicu and micq
Logging of program's actions
Re-reading the configuration on-fly if changed
Extensive and interesting documentation
Monni on BeShare (Tycom server) is doing his best to get it to compile but has been hitting multiple hurdles I'm sure he'd welcome any help he could get.

That I know of, there are no plans to make a BeOS GUI frontend to it. mooooo compiled it for us thankless SOBs :) and I just asked for help getting the thing to compile, so neither of us is planning to write a GUI for it.
But if someone with better C++ skills than me wants to write a frontend, I'd certainly download it :)

Are you looking into at all maybe making a GUI front end for this app. BeAIM is getting out of date and no longer connects on every try, requiring a ctrl+alt+del a few times. If this works well it would be cool to add a front end. I am learning how to program C/C++ so if anyone wants to get on this I will also help puch it along, just need some advice.

well....it's January 15........and i've had 2GB of traffic since Jan1.
So loved.com is going down until February.
Why? hey i pay for my bandwidth. So am i paying for the BeOS cause? hell yeah....much more than a lot of people.
See down here in Australia we have capped limits.
Mine is 500MB per month. Everything after that costs me $0.15C per MB.
Soumd like nothing? yeah well add that to the power costs and cooling costs and i am paying $500 per month at the moment.
So you say "yeah bud that's Aussie dollars.."... well i EARN Aussie dollars. And i PAY with Aussie dollars. Because i have static addresses which costs me MORE whereas everyone else is happy with DHCP from their local ISP.
So yeah that's why when i or anyone else asks for a mirror it's coz i pay s sh!tload of cash every month to my ISP and it's all BeOS stuff.
So anyone who says i dont support our community can go and well...blah.
So i have to pull the plug coz i ain't no sugar daddy.
See y'all when i am on next
peter
