landar_c THX for help, Cappocia (BeShare) offered space too, so maybe we can have 2 mirrors. I'll let You know when i make package.
Well i think also user might benefit from using shared libs: You don't want to download 0.5-1MB of libs each x.x release right? And even if You can, not everyone have so big bandwidth limitations to let every user download so much data each time.
Also it wouldn't be a problem if we had "official" package (in this case SDL libs and all others needed like libpng, libz, libjpeg...). One for users, one for devs. All devs could compile with that libs - and there would be no problem, right?
In rare occsions when lib breaks compatibility with older versions user can copy older versions to older game's lib subfolder (or copy to ~/lib/blah/vx.x/ and in /lib folders of older game's make shortcuts to those libs - so they will not be duplicated).

If the SDL lib's aren't too big (under 10 Meg's or so) I'd be happy to host them.
e-mail me at landar_c at I don't want any freakin' spam sbcglobal.net

The benefit of shared libraries was for the developer and for people who couldn't afford hard drive space... around the 1980s.
For users, in general, shared libs are a hassle and a problem and should be banned for life ;-)
I do what Procton does. I put all libs in the program's folder, in a lib folder. I do not install much to config/lib at all. On rare occasion I might, but I hate shared libs in concept and in general.
Anything that's a shortcut for the developer is usually a problem for the user.

yep it works, but doesn't it miss whole thing about libs?
libs should be used by more than one app :)
BTW Eugenia can You move SDLGameLibs ownership to someone if You don't want to/can't update it anymore? I would like to help. Cappocia (BeShare) has big freespace with long uptime server and can host it. I can update libs.

I hear you.
Most do include libs in the zip, but I wish all did.
I keep no SDL libs in confib/lib, instead I create
the lib folder myself and copy the needed libs there.
The reason I asked was because the SDL version I had did
not work.

THAT's why I am saying that SDL developers on linux should put ALL the needed third party libraries on the app_folder/lib/ directory and ship it with the game. No one is listening though. :(

You can download it from http://www.libsdl.org/projects/SDL_mixer/
i compiled it with latest libraries, so it may be that You also need other newest libs.
BTW it would be good to update GameLibs package.. or make a new one. Anyone with host space? I can prepare all needed libs.

Binary and data are not in the same zip because i would have to send whole zip (~3MB) each time new bin is created. For me it's not maybe such a big problem, but for author it is. And author can't make new zip because binary would loose BFS attributes (as You surely know), so i (or any other BeOS user) have to zip binary.
As You can see BeOS packages are on another host because author doesn't have enough space for all.
If someone can host a mirror please do that :)

Ok so as a few attempts I was able to grab the Binary & fix it's file type but then the rest of it is still doing the same thing - starts to dl then dies due to incredibly low speeds. So I have to ask if there is a better Mirror that could be put up & why if the data is required why not put it with the Bin & just leave the music optional. Anyway hope to see a mirror up as I'm curious.
