I'll release the source code under the GPL licence in few days now. There will be syntax styling and more.. By open sourceing it development will hopefully speed up and we'll get an IDE that works great within short time.. I've been working on a feature list for future versions and there will be a web site up and running soon. The feature list is ment to gide the developers a bit..
Thanks for all feedback..

I've been waiting for a new dev IDE for BeOS... all the old ones seem to be dead...
Adso looks promising. Can we, by chance, get syntax highlighting?
another cool thing (maybe for the future) would be something like the tag completion in Dreamweaver... but for c++ (well, maybe html and others too...)
Just some ideas though. Once again - thank you!

I'm currently working on a new toolbar class, the new toolbar features separators and you can add or remove buttons. Thanks to AustinBUG for there feedback.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to take an overall look at Adso Development Studio. This will help me a lot during the development prossess. Helps me focus on the things that are important for the users.

Firstly, thank you for developing an application for BeOS. A few members of the AustinBUG sat down an noticed the following areas that could use a little improvement:
- Tooltips for your buttons would be great
- The status text at the bottom of the screen gets cut off on the top.
- The same status text is not drawing the background color properly. A few people can probably give you info on how to fix this.
- A separator (a vertical beveled line perhaps) should be placed between the different types of buttons. You are currently using extra spacing to seperate the buttons, but a beveled line would really make the interface feel a little cleaner.
- The link that the install package creates on the application menu off of the Be button is broken and doesn't point to the app.
- Syntax highlighting is a must.
- Including options for inserting doxygen type comments would be good.
- It would be great if your editor had the ability to jump to functions/methods by both keyboard and right click menu.
- Display of column numbers would be nice.
- Get rid of the Memory display in the status bar and replace it with column numbers.
- By removing the memory check in your status bar, you would probably be able to speed up the updating of your line number (and hopefully soon the column number).
- When you have the terminal window launch, have it launch from the directory where your project is saved to. That would really be useful.
If you are really feeling adventurous, you could do some of the following:
- vi keybindings
- allow for user specified context highlighting based on a configurable language file. (e.g. A different text file for python, C, Java, .Net, etc.)
- Add functionality so that if a developer creates a header file, they can have your editor create a cpp based on the function declarations in the header.
- When a developer adds a new function to their code that does not have an included header file, ask the developer if they want to automatically add the necessary include and then do it for them.
Well, if your team is serious about creating a good IDE, then I look forward to seeing this list of features and functionality added to your product.
Have a great day.

Jason VanDerMark

Tony Hughes

I really need feedback on things i should implement and improve in Adso Development Studio. Version 0.0.2 Final will be released some time later this week or early next week. Dont expect to many changes, but i've scheduled i lot of new features for V0.0.3. If i get a lot of feedback and bug reports i'll be able make this IDE workable fast as shit.

AFAICT, this doesn't do anything much yet. However, quite a bit of the interface is laid out, and it looks promising for the future.
Now it seems that codeliege is going to be closed-source (and their websit hasn't been updated in a while), it's good to have an open source ("Source will be available later") IDE under development.
Keep up the good work - I would like to use the next release for some actual development!

The Zip is not corrupt, it not a Zip its a .pkg just rename the file to .pkg. I had to rename it because freeservers would'nt let me download the file when it had the .pkg extension.

If you start Adso from command line with the "-nosplash" parameter it starts without the splashscreen. Or you can uncheck splashscreen in application preferences. I'll fix the bug in the "new class" function as soon as i've got the time...

I've tested the version i got last night on BeShare. There are a bug in the New Class function, when i write in a name and select the derived from class, the generated class is always derived from BApplication and BApplication is the first on the list. Hope you can fix this problem, it worked in the first beta i got. Is there a way to start Adso without the splash screen?
Cheers!!
Keep up the good work rubio..

I've been working a lot on this project the last months so i hope it will be worth the download time. Thanks for testing it for me The_Raven.. I've added some more features since the version you tested and improved some of the features in the last version. There has been a long time since last time i posted a version here on bebits, but i wanted to make it functional enough to use before releasing a new version. The new version also supports the javac compiler that come's with BeKaffe. And i've implemented some multi threading to speed some things up and to prevent the app from locking when making/compiling your project. I can not say when i will release a new version, but it's very soon..
Thanks again for the feedback..
A tmp. website will be up and running next week, i'm soon getting inet connection at home so then i will host the website myself..

Yesterday got a beta version of the new Adso version from the auther on BeShare. It look awsome, it has a very customizable gui, can hide/show toolbars and stuff. Syntax styling and saving to FTP/CVS and many compiler options are some of the features. The version here at bebits really stink, i hope the new version will be released soon. Since BeIDE is dead i hope this app will be as good and as time goes, maybe better..
Cheers!

Just send me the files via email and I'll upload them and tell you the URL.
