so I didn't read you were the developer of the app... oops, I did however read the readmes.
anyways " If your keyboard doesn't pop up any info when you have replaced the input server, you are SOL."
well it doesn't, so I guess I am, eventhough after I converted the values obtained through linux the keycodes were the same as some of the keycodes from the microsoft keyboard in your example.

I am the developer of these codes. :-) This is my app, and I have read through the posts. I tend to do that for my apps amazingly enough. Also, if you had read the other comments posted by mmlr and Andreas, they told you explicitly what to use to obtain these codes. Andreas was even kind enough to provide you a link. We cannot read the readme files for you. There is a great walkthrough included in the replacement input server that walks you through obtaining the codes. Those codes are then bound to SpicyKeys, which calls all functions of those keyboards. If your keyboard doesn't pop up any info when you have replaced the input server, you are SOL.

I realize this is for the "LOGITECH WIRELESS OPTICAL PRO" as you put it.
I was asking the developer how he derived the keycodes, if you would have read my first post...
thanks.

I have used my bindings on 3 revisions of the keyboard with no problems. Maybe you have a newer version and they have changed what they output. Logitech is good at changing internals without notification. Your only hope is to get the modified input server and see what each key is sending. ALSO make sure you are using the PS/2 connector, not the USB one.

I tried both your suggestions (Andreas and mmlr), and neither work.
Spicy keys will not identify the keys when pressed, and the keyboard mapping daemon in that zip file won't either.
After some reading, I found out how to change my key code values from lineakd into hexadecimal format. I then added them to the keyboard config file in /boot/home/settings/config
It turns out that after I converted them to hexadecimal values, all of the keycodes except one were the same as keycodes from the Microsoft keyboard included in the sample config file that was in the keyboardmapping.zip file Andreas sent me.
After restarting the input server with the new keyboard config file however, pressing the keys does nothing!
I guess it is located on a different controller? I don't know, I guess I give up.
Thanks!

You could use SpicyKeys (http://www.bebits.com/app/385) for this. There you can select the 'Key' column and just hit the key once. It will figure out the keycode automatically and you can asign these multimedia keys to something right away.

How did you figure the keycodes for your board?? Is there a tool for this?
Mine don't show in the keymapper under beos preferences when I press them.
I have a laptop with some multimedia keys on it that I would like to use.
I can only get them working under Linux. There's a tool called lineakd, and you can use a program that comes with X, to figure your mapping of the keys out. However, the linux keycodes are in a different from that of in the BeOS keycodes, as they are only 3 numerical digits. Or do you have to convert them into hex??
Any help would be appreciated!

ey.. i'l be damned.. it is the same keycodes.. i thought i had tried this keymap before??.. hmm.. maybe there is two logitech-keymaps on bebits.. anyway.. then there's no need for the one i published..
still, i know i tried one keymap before i published this package.. but that one didn't work.. i think it had the wrong keycodes for my keyboard...
hope this didn't be too disturbing :) / removes app

Yeah, but, NTFK already has it all assigned. But I do think I've used the spctl in spicey keys. NTFK has then all predone I think is what it is.
Maybe it's both that also suffer from that Volume problem. Might test it this weekend. I have an email from the author about something like that.

You don't need much else than spicykeys and the spctrl app (included with SoundPlay) to use the keys in conjunction with SoundPlay. Just set the vol-/+ on the wheel the rest is easy.

The media Keys DO work. I use an application called Not So Fancy Keys, which I'll add a link to in the related links, which control soundplay. It's the only one I've been able to get since it's scripted. You could use HEY to do it also. A word of caution when using the volume, however, is that when using Not So Fancy Keys with it, it'll sometimes "overload" it since we have a fluid volume, and lock up NSFK. SO you just kill it and it'll be fine. Hope that helps.

Good 'driver' Adam. I was using the SmartKeyboard drivers for my Logitech Optical Cordless, but yours now take proffit of other keys (Go, arrow,...).
The Media buttons (|<<, >>|, >/||, []) don't seem to work on sound apps, will them work on a next release?
Good job!
