Thanks for the offer jfreak. I have now got my web space back up but if anybody wants to mirror the file please feel free to download it and stick it on their site. If you let me know the address I can add it to the list of locations (or I think anyone can do this).

My web space has temporarily disappeared.
As soon as I find someone else to host it the file will be downloadable again.
If anyone wants to mirror it on their site please feel free...

Thanks for the comments.
I am only likely to work on drivers for sierra digicams but hope this app will help other driver developers.
I am trying to get this onto beunited.org to get some help with exchanging data with devices.
The text output is a possibility to add after data exchange is working.

I think it might be becaause you have some process that has locked the USB devices (using the USBkit?). If you run the app from Terminal you will get a lot of debug output. If you get stuff like
USBKit: Cannot open '/dev/bus/usb/0/1'
then that is probably the case.
I'm not sure what to do about this yet - I think it is a problem with the USB kit only able to open devices locked exclusively.

Not quite sure what you mean here but let me try...
The roster is started when the app activated message is received as that is the only way I could find to show that the app is running and the looper is no longer locked. If someone know a better way please let me know.
This therefore has to use a flag to indicate that the roster is started so that it is not started more than once, otherwise the problem I mentioned above with the 'cannot open /dev...' occurs.

Thanks for tacking USB development. BeOS needs it. Especially if we get the updated USB support in Zeta (I assume you will be working with that when available?) which will open up BeOS to more USB devices.

ok, I have update my USBkit, but I have recompiled with no errors, tested and not results in main window ( after connected devices ).
I have seen in code ( ApplicationUsbWatcher ) : not start roster and not passed in Messagereceived ( B_SOME_APP_ACTIVATED ) for tested this. Why ? I don't know ! and you ?

OtherDescriptorAt is in the USB kit in Interface.cpp
Maybe you have a different version of the USB kit? I am using the one dated 2000.01.15 from http://www.xs4all.nl/~oce/beos/

I have tested on Dano, but not on BeOS 5.03 and when I put a usb device, not device appear in windows.
I have tested to recompile your application, but after some little problem on path, I have a last error on "OtherDescriptorAt" function in WindowInfo.cpp file. I'm not find this in USBKit or in BeOS Tools kit. Have you a same problem or where is this function ?
thank for response.
