The problem was that I had a different libstdc++.so, sorry for that.. did I say I'm a C# windows programmer? ;)

I have updated the binary and the source to have those files included.

To build you need the newest 2.95 gcc and Zeta :) (needed for building jma)

You are either compiling with a broken g++, or are somehow linking a system with an incompatible libstdc++ installed somewhere.

Or is it that people getting the error are using an incompatible libstdc++?
"

ahh I know what it is.. didn't think of this..
I'm also programming Haiku things so I have the latest GCC 2.95 from bebits and that one have another libstdc++.

I will try to make a new one with the original libstdc++ tonight..

Quite frankly I have no idea, but that's what happens when you run Fluffy Bunny 5000!

Seriously, there are ways of fixing that, but I won't get into it. I'd suggest a different compiler or rebuilding all dependencies off the same compiler.

@end-users:
You could always try what Rafael K suggests here - http://www.bebits.com/talkback/4173

Greetings,

I get the same as the other individual: "Missing symbol read_7istreamPcl"; also, I am running 1.21 and 1.51. It occurs on both OSs.

Am I missing a key library or something?

ps 1.21 are a lot better than 1.2

Caz is the man when it comes to BeOS videogame emulation, and this port shows just that. If you want to try another great port GUI'ed, give BeSMSPlus a try as well. It is an Sega Master System emulator with many of the same features included in BeS9X (various graphic modes, sound/joy support..etc).

I'll look into the refresh window change and put the refresh rate list in a seperate menu idea.

The line artefacts are scaling artefacts and show up more because scanlines are used in max scan, to reduce the artefacts enable extended height but with this option a few black lines at the bottom of the screen will be shown when a game does not use the extra height.

The snes height when not using extended height is 224, the screen is 480 so there is a remainder there causing a few artefacts, with extended height the snes height is 239, so doubling 239 is close to 480.

I only code in patches but there could be a wrapped up in a similar box type gens port but don't hold me to anything though.

Cheers

Caz

all seem to work fine in that release.

I don't like the refesh window (i hate floater). that should be in a check menu (like the screen mode for exemple).

the emu no longuer take 100% cpu time, kudos!

i get line artefact (each 2 centimeter)in vertical scrolling in max scan direct mode, lot lot less in bitmap and none in overlay. The lines are kinda not drawing in synch, hard to say.

now wrap your gens port in the same paper if you dare ;P

hehe,

I think hardedged's reply covers most things :-), what this Focus Please stuff has to do with Snes9x i don't know, little apps.. ?.

This could well be a troll, but if it's not why don't you learn how to code and try to get the Windows Application compatiblity you want. The frustration scenario has been heard many times too, so there's no real benefit of repeating the same things over and over.

Caz

not possible?

I don't think this is the appropriate place to be posting things of that nature but whatever. I will go ahead and bite the troll.

First, who are you to say what is 'worthwhile' and what is not? Something that is to one person is irrelevant to another.

Secondly "there's no possible way"? If you wanted to ditch /\/\$ then you would just do it. Don't give me that garbage.

In regards to "Windows Application compatiblity", that is a joke? No o.s. survives on the progs of another. This is completely counter-productive.

Lastly, don't get me wrong I am not trying to be a jerk on purpose, but seriously: not all these apps on bebits released now days are "just another little app". The very fact that you would say that is an insult to all the developers who take the time and put the effort into releasing the things that they do.

If you want something like a 1GB worth of program such as Propellerhead Software's Reason that takes countless man-hours and investment, then put your money where your mouth is.

Focus Please

I have to say in advance that I'm sorry for my frustration, but everything remains the same.

Years ago.. before Be.com shutdown, and the OS got sold off to Palm, Inc.. I went out and bought the retail version of the OS and the Be Bible. I was a Be maniac and I was proud of it. I still think that Be is an awesome OS and should have gotten more recognition and acceptance then what it did.

These days, however, I come to bebits.com, and I see the same old thing. The many gracious developers that are still working hard on creating apps for Be are just doing that.. creating little apps.

Instead of making another app that controls windows behavior, plays music, changes wallpaper, puts a little guy on the screen, screensavers, little hearts games or anything.. why not focus on something important ... like bringing native Windows Application support to Be? How about developing new drivers that enable 3d acceleration in Be? Or how about creating ONE KILLER APP in Be? Just because Be OS isn't fully supported doesn't mean that we don't want to continue using Windows. I would LOVE to ditch my WinXP installation completely. But there's no possible way that I ever can. There are too many apps and games that I make use of to stay crippled.. or to bother with Wine or the Be equivalent (and yes, I got Win 98 working in Be.. and yes.. I have a powerful computer.. and yes.. sure.. I guess someone could run Word this way) .. but come'on guys.. that's not practical.

My overall point is simple ... if developers are going to take the time to develop for BeOS, and I'm so glad that they do, why not work on something that would be incredibly worthwhile.... starting with Windows Application compatiblity.

If we could get over that hurdle... I imagine there would be many, many, many happy people all over the world. Heck.. I'd even pay for it. :)

SwimmingGoose,

There are only 2 scaling modes available in the overlay version of Snes9x, you can resize the window to any size though in overlay mode. If you want Scanlines and other modes you can use the original version.

Hi,

Yes it is possible to add code to pause the emulator when the menu's are used.

I've added the feature and you can get the code changes here, http://www.infernal.currantbun.com/s9x_changes.zip , if your using the overlay version then you'll have to cut'n paste some code from these files. Put the .h files in the beos_includes dir.

The emulator already pauses when the program loses focus, is it possible to also pause when the menus are being used? this would be a really great feature especially when i am trying to save the state, it would be nice to not have the game continue to progress while i am clicking menus.

Audio Problem - Not Snes9x's fault
 By Mahmoud - Posted on May 12, 2003 - 16:57:05   (#7286)
Current version when comment was posted: 1.39.2
I tried S9x for windows on the same machine & the sound was even worse! While it works fine on a much slower machine with SBLive. So I guess it's not the emulator's fault. People...Snen9x is innocent :)

Overlay
 By Caz - Posted on May 10, 2003 - 19:32:36   (#7258)
Current version when comment was posted: 1.39.2
You can get the overlay cpp file here, http://www.infernal.currantbun.com/s9x_main_window_latest_overlay.cpp.zip

You can also try changing Settings.SoundPlaybackRate = 7; to a lower value, such as 4 for 22050 sound rate. If the driver is not calling the callback often enough then the driver is the problem unfortunately, emulators put real pressure on systems, and help to show the real performance of various bits and pieces in the system such as drivers.

That's not it

Unfortunately, that didn't help Caz. I tried playing with other settings as well but it only made sound worse :)
btw, in the available sources...is overlay available?

Audio
 By Caz - Posted on May 10, 2003 - 14:07:09   (#7254)
Current version when comment was posted: 1.39.2
Hi Mahmoud,

It sounds to me that the driver is not calling the audio callback often enough. You could try recompiling snes9x and changing the Settings.SoundBufferSize = 2048; to Settings.SoundBufferSize = 4096; in s9x_main_window_latest.cpp 's InitS9xSettings() function.

I've tested snes9x on 3 or 4 low end systems such as a celeron 466 with aureal vortex sound card and the audio is perfect. I have an onboard ac97 sound card but i don't use it because i have a 4 year old SBLive soundcard which is still going strong.

If anyone else has a different explanation or fix, send it along.

Caz

Open up the Media Preferences panel and select "Audio Settings". Make sure you have "Enable Real-time Audio" checked. If you already have it checked, then I suppose it's an AC97 issue. The fix I mentioned got rid of sound lagging slightly behind video in my NES emulator, Pretendo.

Snes9x overlay
 By Caz - Posted on May 6, 2003 - 20:50:29   (#7203)
Current version when comment was posted: 1.39.2
An overlay version of Snes9x is now available, so on supported graphics cards, scaling the window comes free of charge. This version is highly recommended for users that have B_YCbCr422 overlay support.

Also i noticed a strange thing that more users are still downloading the old version of Snes9x, while the old version of Snes9x is a good version, the newer 1.39 series is far in advance of that version. So i have changed my version's app name to Snes9x.

Also give my version a vote if you can.
