Details about this version:
As the other Pe-entries on BeBits are either very old or broken, the
Pe team decided to release a new version. This is meant to be a more or less regular release, something like a monthly build, if you want...
Here are some of the changes:
the function-popup no longer hangs Pe when opened too long
a nifty "find function"-popup has been added
FTP-access is working better now
support for even more languages (Asm, Lua) has been added
all dialogs are much nicer to use in focus-follows-mouse mode
lots of other new features and bugfixes

I finnlay got a CVS build done but there is no change. FTP still fails. Does any one have a pe build (on a BONE system) that has working save & open from server features?

I have no problems doing it like this:
export CVSROOT=:pserver:anonymous@code.beunited.org:/cvs/pe
cvs login
cvs update -P -d .
cvs logout

just a note I haven't been able to CVS update or even get into the nighly build ftp... something is wonky with the BeUnited server

Hey,
me & many others on BONE or stock net_server have this feature fail 100% of the time. 501 Syntax error in IP field is one of the best errors to be had. Thats if you try the IP by iteself. If you add the ftp:// it then says it failed to get server address: No Error. I'm on BONE but I know many people on net_server that get the same fails.

I have just checked this and it seems to work properly on my machine (R5), i.e. I could read and write from/to an FTP-server.
So what exactly is the problem and what system are you using (R5/BONE)? For best results, send me a mail.

Ya external server support has been dead for a long time. I can't really say if it ever was functioning. It is one of the only things pe lacks for my personal tasks but it seems like no one is working on the server issues. I know Andrew isn't too interested in the support for saving to external servers so he hasn't done anything to that section of the code so I'm not sure if any one has plans to get that up to speed.
