#1 I sometimes get annoyed when I want to use the File menu, but then my mouse gets to Recent and that menu fills the screen in such a way that I cannot click on anything else and have to start over.
#2 This is not the appropriate place to comment on the funtionality of SoundPlay. This is where we try to encourage and influence the development of this plugin from which many interesting things may spawn.

"Takes up to much screen space..."
It's one entry in a menu (which would still be there even if the playlist were not loaded).
"You might not want a passing family member to read something out of context ( damn that rap music )"
OK...
"You may just prefer it not displayed..."
That's not a reason, it's simply restating the question as an answer (why do you prefer it that way?-> because I prefer it that way)
So far you've given one good reason, which boils down to someone being embarassed that someone else might find out what they've been playing. I would argue that if you're worried about what someone else might find on your computer, you shouldn't let them use your computer...

There are plenty of good reasons to not want a play list forced into the view...

I can see lots of reasons for wanting it too...
Simple solution, make it toggleable...

So why would it be so nice for SoundPlay not to show the recent list?

Yes i saw the option "Load playlist at startup" in Startup panel in Preferences of SoundPlay.
But you still load the playlist in the Recent file menu, i was talking of deleting the settings file each time soundplay closes so that Open Recent doesn't have any thing to load...
Right now i wrote an application that monitors when SoundPlay closes and does its delete but it would be nice if SoundPlay gave the option of NOT showing any recent playlists.

I like this. For me personally I was hoping to use the TrackWatcher plugin to execute a script so I could post my playlist to Audioscrobbler. In it's current state this would make it possible, but there would be too much involved.
This is an interesting project. : )

Ram: this option already exists in SoundPlay. It's in the "startup" section of the preferences.

Hello Ram,
Here's to almost precisely duplicating existing functionality, eh?
Just to be clear, I assume you mean that you would want SP to not save its own internal playlists? First of all, its beyond my control; the plugin API doesn't allow that. Second, its not really the intention of the plugin to stop SP from recording that information - I believe that's where it generates its "Open recent..." list from (under the "File" menu).
I hope that it will eventually include more information into the output, such a separate fields for artist, album, title, and play date, which will go beyond the scope of the existing "playlists" data file. And besides, that's only updated when you exit the program.
Thanks for your input!

I really like this app. If you aren't familiar with the Audioscrobbler project, a British fellow started an international database that people can submit their playlists to via a winamp plugin. Perhaps functionality can be added to PlayLog to upload it to the server? It's good to use Audioscrobbler's database to find similar artists to what you've been listening to. All in all, an awesome job, keep it up!

How about an option for NOT mantaining playlists at all? SoundPlay compulsarily saves the playlist in a setting file in ~/config/settings/prefserver/
It would be nice if the plugin had an option NOT to reload playlists while SP starts-up or not store playlist at all, either way would be good. Just a suggestion.
