New suggestions

I have some new suggestions (as always :)

1. Right click on the Deskbar replicant should show options menu.
2. Left click should show BeBits apps.
3. Need to use default plain font size instead of 10.
4. Is it possible to show popup hint on new apps menu items with links? (e.g. http://www.bebits.com/app/3440)

When you finish with this it will be awsome if you take a look at switcher sources http://sf/net/projects/switcher and fix the following bugs:
1. Sticky menu didn't work.
2. Replicant didn't stays in the Deskbar after Deskbar relaunch or reboot.
This is must have app, so if you fix it community will tell you a BIG thanks!

It hasn't fixed mine ...

Sorry, but the OT deskbar (from CVS, about a week old) crashed as merrily as ever with this version.

i'm using BeOS Max 2 which has openTracker 5.1.5 and uses localTracker 1.3.1

my other replicants include BWeather (which mysteriously displays only blank icons now, maybe this is related?)

the problem, as stated in my subject, is fixed on my machine as of 1.1b.

thanks! this is a great little app!

I've got the latest Tracker/Deskbar from CVS sources...

Sometimes, when I pull up the menu of latests BeBits apps and click on one the menu just hangs there, the deskbar is unresponsive and it stays this way - frozen.

Deskbar Crashes

I can not find anything that should cause this to happen. What Deskbar are you running? The one that shipped with BeOS or maybe a recent Open Tracker Build? Anyway, I can't duplicate the issue. Maybe, if you could send me your Tracker, Deskbar and libtracker.so files along with a list of the other desktop replicants you are running, I could duplicate (read fix) this issue.

deskbar crash with different criteria

like goodoldgames, this app crashes my deskbar too - but i don't have to change the update frequency:

if the deskbar replicant is blinking and i click once to display the menu and once on an entry, the deskbar is crashed %100 of the time.

if i click once to stop the blinking and then open the menu and choose, it crashes sometimes but much less frequently.

Latest bebits descriptions

Thanks for this great app first. One additional fantastic feature would be to have a tooltip on mouseOver when moving on an item in the menu. The tooltip would of course contain the description available in the 'more latest bebits' page. Most of the time it's nice to see what a program is about at all. There is a free simple C++ class called BubbleHelper (by Marco Nelissen I think) that does just this.

It's nice to see you are looking in to talkbacks.
You already have my 9, so when you'll implement all the features in BeBits Updated 1.2 you'll get my 10. Thanks for all your work, it's awesome indeed!

Thanks a lot for this. It's now one of my BeOS "must-have" proggies.

Could you add an option to select which browser to use to open BeBits?

1. Add an option to select how many items to check (and show in the popup menu)
2. Set bold font on new items.

Here you go. :-)

Nice app! But i have some suggestions on how you can improve it...
1. Add option to auto check every xx hour/min (only if there PPP connection)
2. If there no items to show - indicate menu with "Empty yet" string
3. Save history, so if Deskbar crashes or reboot it will show items being showed last time checked.
4. Move Quit item a bit lower, so user can't accident click on it.
5. About window :)
6. Add option to show or not system alert if there is new apps.
7. Don't very comfortable to hold mose button on Deskbar replicant.
8. Show hint (last few apps) on mouse over.
9. If middle mouse button clicked - check now.
10. Live in Deskbar or not option.

If you'll implement all of this options it will become a killer app :)

proxy server?

Looks nice, but it doesn't work on my PC. Probably because I have to connect to the web through a proxy-server (my ISP blocks port 80). I hope that you can fix this in a future release.

Great
