I would like to have a folder supertype:
folder/*
folder/plain
(In general I'm against creating/abusing supertypes, but I feel folder/* is a special-case that is worthwhile.)
All part of the masterplan, which is to allow:
folder/audio-album
folder/pictures
folder/cvs
folder/whatever
It probably wouldn't bother any other platform and it's kind of neat. Definitely better looking than 'application/x-vnd.Be-directory-album' and we don't clutter the application/* group with even more unrelated types. (It's pretty crowded in there already.)

Nope, it doesn't change the columns in Tracker.
It just extracts informations about music albums contained in a directory, and then sets these informations in the directory as attributes; the directory then has a special new file type.
It makes informations like artist, album name, play length, etc. available to the Tracker.
