Rafael is right, this version runs on an X-server. The other even older version that runs under the BeOS windowing system is not exactly finished, nor can it be used for direct ports (without extreme modifications).

the version from edge is only one for the X11 Server
(http://www.bebits.com/app/4135 only for Zeta),
so you can use X11+gtk+gimp
http://www.beinformed.at/ss/X11-base.png
you can get it maybe in beshare gtk+-1.2-10.x86.pkg.zip
the version from http://www.gtk.org/beos/
is a native one, you don't need a X11 server,
but it's alpha!

There are a bunch of symlinks in that archive that point to files in /boot/apps/local that most people end up with in /boot/home/config ... specifically they are files from automake and libtool.
I would suggest not even trying to compile this on your own unless you know what you're doing.

I am not so good a compiling these things. Here's the error I get:

There's a list about all features currently implemented and those which still have to be done.
Download latest version at:

Sweet. I've known of the native GTK port headed by David Reid and co, and always wondered how come noone bothered porting X11 GTK+ just so that we can get GIMP to BeOS sooner (proof of concept and such). Now someone has actually bothered to do it. Well done.
