You must install at minimum X11 and GTK+:

Further I would recommend this X-server (especially if unfamiliar with X in general):

Then launch X, i.e. if you installed XBeOSNative just double-click the XBeOS icon and in the window that appears should be another window - a terminal. In that terminal you type in the name of the application to launch :)
BTW if you install this:

AND you edit the XBeOS icon (a text file) to launch it (blackbox) instead of the default (look for windowmanager section), then you should have menus with links to progs for easy execution of the binaries - that would be directly inside of the X session.
That's the basics anyhow. Other people provide their own X distros, but that is what the progs under this acct are linked against.

Wow, works great, feels great (especially using fvwm2 for BeOS)
