You have to replace the file libz.so in the lib folder of HoH and use the one in the system library. Copy it or make a symlink.
Thanks to Chaylon aka Rafael.

If anyone running Zeta RC3 cannot swap Head for Heels, then use this version of the allegro library (4.1.10):
www.markhogben.dsl.pipex.com/liballeg-4.1.10.so.zip
You need to install the liballeg.so file into /boot/home/config/lib (renaming it to just "liballeg.so" after decompressing it). You might want to back up the existing one, though LibPak from BeBits should replace it if you find you need it later.
This will solve the swapping issue - though you will most likely still not be able to redefine the keys :(
Have fun! (I have ;-)

If you open a shell and run this from the command line, it works!
I don't know why it fails from the UI - but who cares? We can play this fab game on Zeta!!! Hurray!!!

Sadly, I cannot get this to run on Zeta RC3 (I was playing it before on BeOS MAX 3.1b...)
Is there any chance of a fix? The app crashes the second it is run. (Of course, if the source is available somewhere, I'll have a go myself..?)

How I have gone this long without knowing there was a BeOS port of this!?! (I found it by accident while searching for "make" ;-) )
This is my favourite remake ever (and the original was one of my fave speccy games too). This oozes quality - more games like this on BeOS please!!

Signatures mistmatch is known, but i can't help it. I can only change signature in resource file, but i can't change it in BApplication constructor as it is in Allegro library. It shouldn't bring any problems, unless You really don't like that infor in terminal :)
Game loads quite long as it loads all data at start. So maybe You just have to wait a little longer. On the other hand Your CPU is quite fast so it should load faster than here...
What You mean by "music just loops"? Music plays ok, forever? or plays the same few seconds forever?
Does that mean You can't use keyboard in menu?
THX for report.

Firstly, when you run in terminal, it complains about mismatched signatures in rsrc file and application constructor - application/x-vnd.Allegro-HoH VS application/x-vnd.Retrospec-HoH.
Secondly, none of the fullscreen modes worked on my system. Just hung my BeOS so only three-fingers could help.
And thirdly, window mode didn't work either... It seems to consume 100% of CPU and gets as far as the game menu, but then music just loops and nothing seems to happen. And yes, I updated the binary.
I've R5.0.3 running on Athlon XP2200+ with half-gig of RAM.
Cheers.

OK I've got the d/l now and the updated exe (thx shard).
Probably my favourite game on BeOS - graphics are really well done, sound and music good too. Congrats to the authors.
Swapping windows works fine here - after it's started - same as you.
OK, back to the game!

Game can crash (not always, it's random) when it's window looses focus and regains it often/many times. The same happens in windows version. Probably it's problem with Allegro library (so not a bug in game, as other Allegro games also can crash that way). So don't jump between windows if You play game ;] (it never happened here - except when game is launching, i can move focus to other windows many times safely - maybe it depends on processor/ram/other resources - i don't know, if someone knows, let us know too :).

Now it contains libdl.so and fix for music not looping.
If You don't want to download whole zip again You can download "exe only" zip here: http://beosports.neoni.net/HeadOverHeels10BeOS_exeonly.zip

One important thing: please send (or post here) THX to author, not only me :) He wrote game, He trusted me to compile it (almost all i had to do was just to compile it - game was already based on Allegro).
I mean, it's very nice to hear THX :), but i feel like i'm stealing it from authors: Tomaz Kac (coding), Graham Goring (gfx) and others (Dorian Black - music, Peter Jovanovic - website, logo, etc.., Ignacio Perez Gil - additional sound effects, and beta testers), when people THX only me.

If You didn't start downloading yet, please wait for updated package.
If You did, there will be "binary only" package also probably (binary had to be changed also because music didn't loop - my mistake).

Only Heel (brown guy) can pick up objects (if he has a bag). That's his ability. Head (yellow guy) can jump higher and You can control his "flight".
To switch between them press right CTRL. Left CTRL is used to fire donuts by Head (but first You have to find ammo and "gun" :).
You start in closed area - to go out use teleport.
More about all of that in "Manual.html" in "Docs" subdirectory of game :)
