Seems like it wasn't as easy as I'd hoped to compile it on R5. I'll have a look at it and post a new R5 zip as soon as I've fixed it.

Oops, that probably means you'll need to recompile it for R5. I didn't think I had anything Zeta specific in it (I'm pretty sure I don't), but it seems to be a problem anyway. Read the README.source file, it tells you to copy two files, then run make and it should hopefully build a new version that works on your system. If it does, it would be great if you could mail me the binaries so I can put up a new zip for R5.
If you have trouble building it, mail me or see if I'm on #beosimkit on irc.freenode.net and I'll try to help.

Anyway I like the way you use the date instead of an Versions Nr.
So no confusion about the newest one.Thx

Meep,
Just in case anyone wants to try out the current version of BeIndexed which uses SQLite instead of Postgres, the source can be found at http://eiman.mine.nu:8888/svn/BeIndexed/curr
I don't think there are any big changes except the change of database.
You'll need to get the latest version of SQLite and hack it a bit (the file locking is causing it to not work as is on BeOS/Zeta), when I release the next version it'll include the needed lib(s) and headers so you won't have to bother with that. As I'm not at my computer right now I can't check exactly what changes are needed to make it compile, but basically you'll need to return 'ok' right away in the locking functions instead of actually performing the locking.

Does anyone else think this program is the perfect foundation to make a Beagle/Google Desktop search application for BeOS?

It would be quite possible to use SQLite instead of Postgres, there's nothing really special about Postgres that made me use it. I haven't really looked into SQLite and I happened to have Postgres installed :)
Having looked at the SQLite homepage, I think I'll try it out for the next version of BeIndexed. I didn't think it supported transactions (read the manual? what? why? :), which is something I consider a requirement for BeIndexed, but since it does I'll have to give it a try!

Mikael

would your proof-of-concept be possible with sqlite ?
so it would work independently from any bone stuff,
and work on R5 .......
