Ahh. Opening the add-on with FileType, I find the "Supported Types" list empty. Normally this would mean that the add-on is displayed in the context menu with any type of file (which BTW does work now with the updated Tracker, though in case of OpenTargetFolder isn't useful).
After adding "Symbolic Link" (found under application) it all works! I don't know why I haven't tried this before. It's so obvious!
Anyway, I'm glad that by constant bitching led you to notice a little bug in Tracker. :)

I have investigated this issue, and this is what I found:
- I've obviously mixed using R5 and Dano while creating the resource file; it probably won't work in R5
- Tracker had a bug and ignored add-ons which didn't have a correct supported types message (where BAppFileInfo::GetSupportedTypes() failed).
I've already fixed the Tracker bug, but I haven't updated this entry yet (other add-ons I've written seem to be affected as well). As a work-around, open the add-on with FileTypes and remove all supported types manually, and then add them again and save the changes.

The entry for "Symbolic Link"has as internal name "x-vnd.Be-symlink". So that should be OK. Weird.

Sorry for the delay.
I opened the add-on with QuickRes and figured that the last entry, type "MSGG" tells the Tracker when to display the add-on. Here, I read "application/x-vnd.Be-symlink".
Opening the FileTypes Preferences I find under "application" only "Symbolic Link". No "x-vnd.Be-symlink". This is BeOS R5.0.3 Pro (or PE, can't really remember...)
Could that be it?

Yes, I noticed this already; I accidently used the wrong resource file. I haven't yet gotten around to update the entry, though, but I'll soon do it.

Hmmm... I think that since the last bigger OpenTracker update ("intelligent Add-Ons menu") this add-on doesn't work anymore.
It's not listed in the Add-Ons context menu anymore. I looked at the add-on's filetype information but couldn't find anything amiss.

Maybe both, description and add-on name are bad, but this add-on doesn't only work on folders, but on all symbolic links; it will open the folder containing the link target. Try it with the entries in the Be menu to see what I mean.
But there is a way to have the same functionality in Tracker through the use of the info window - if you click on "Link To:" in that window, the folder containing the link target will open as well (but it's more convenient to have a direct way of doing this).

I'm puzzled why anyone would want to use this app. With Tracker its easier to right click a symlinked folder then open it in its own window. With this one has to scroll down to the bottom to their add-on folder, then sort through all their add-ons, then finally open the symlinked folder. Too much work for something that is already accomplished with Tracker.
Cheers.
