You can test pista ( http://gatling.ikk.sztaki.hu/~kissg/pd/pista/pista.html ) which is an interface to PICSTART plus, written in perl (you'll also need to install perl for BeOS if you don't have it). I didn't try it, but it could do the trick.
As for the bootloader, I'll think about this. It would require to change a few things in the code...

i'm in the serial camp :) nice to have parallel but i would like to be able to use my PicStartplus. If you ever want to do this, i could test, just drop on beshare and ask.
A nice addition would be some kind of bootloader support, let say use windows to put the bootloader in and you then support it from your app in BeOS.

Version 1.0 only works with the noppp board
Version 1.1 will also support Tait's SERPIC and PARPIC
If you would like BeNoPPP to support other programmers, send me an email (bepic-at-becoz-dot-org) with the name of your programmer, a schematic, and if possible some source code (for DOS, Linux, or anything). I'll tell you if I can do it.
Please note that I can only support 'cheap' programmers (with only a few components, and that connect to the PC on a parallel or serial port), and PIC Flash microcontrollers.
Supporting more complex programmers (such as Microchip's PICSTART or the Mastera) isn't planned currently, because I don't know the protocol used, and I don't have such a programmer to test and debug BeNoPPP on them.

Yes, I'm planning to add support for David Tait's PARPIC and SERPIC programmers. I'll need some beta testers ;-)

I have a serial PIC programmer and I have to use Window 98 to use it. A BeOS version would be terrific.
