Some other downloaded files did appear in the

Hi, am I the only user having problems? :-/
Every time I try to launch mlnet I get an error:
BShell: can't find the shell
even if I run launchmlnet from the mlnet-dir in /boot/apps/MLNet
And if I try to run mlnet directly, it does acually nothing but quits after 2 seconds:
$ mlnet
$
There is also no directory created in /boot/home, as been said in this talkback before.
I'm using BeOSR5.1/BONE.
Please help me :-/

I've played a little with it now and it is working,
really good to have this under BeoS too.
Since I have a slow connection with a data limit I wonder
how I can block or trottle unploaders for the time being.
There are a lot of options :-)
Anyway thanks a lot for this.

The problem with the non existant servers somehow solved itself. Don't know how, but suddenly the servers were available again.
The directories in /home/.mldonkey now is no real problem, just mentioned it ;-)
I inserted a new line:
rm -f /boot/home/.mldonkey/mlnet.pid
in the 'launchmlnet' script now... but I guess the way you described is the better one ;)

The problem with the mlnet.pid is probably due to shutting mlnet down in the wrong way. The mlnet.pid file gets created when mlnet is run and deleted when it closes. If the mlnet.pid is present this normally means that mlnet is still running, and mlnet refuses to be run again. You should always quit mlnet using the webinterface and the "Kill Core" button found under "Help+" or by typing "kill" into the input field at the top and pressing "Input". MLNet should then quit cleanly and also remove the mlnet.pid file.
The changed data location from the MLNet folder to "/boot/home/.mldonkey" is not something that I did. I did not change this location for the last versions and I didn't change it with this version. As the old dataformat is not compatible with the new dataformat anyway, it does not matter all that much, except polluting the home directory.

It seems that on every new start the file 'mlnet.pid' in /boot/home/.mldonkey disturbs the new start.
You always have to delete that file to get mlnet restarted.
The incoming and temp folders are now in
/boot/home/.mldomkey instead of the MLNet directory itself.
Something seems to be wrong with that version...

You can open a terminal, cd to the MLNet directory and then start mlnet.
That's what the script "launchmlnet" does.
Then you might see, that this new version nags because of a already existing folder:
/boot/home/.mldonkey
Just delete that one as there will be created a new one by the new version.
So, now you should get mldonkey running like before by starting it with that script.
It did so too and what I noticed next was, that there are no servers in the list anymore. No single server to choose even under "All servers".
That's where I stuck now...

All I get is connection refused, but the first time
I was able to access the site ( 127.0.0.1:4080 )
But I couldn't dowload anything, I got :
"e2k not supported" or something!?
When I launchmlnet in terminal there is some text but
I can't read it because it is gone in a flash.
How can I save this terminal output so I can read it?
And how do I make it work?
I really like to have this one working.

This is just a build (make), it's not a BeOS app with icons and all the fun stuff.
The GUI is just for GTK and is unavaible.
About the web interface... check the config files or connect via telnet to see if it's enabled (on the old build, it was enabled).

Hey I tried running the launchmlnet and then entered this in the browser : 127.0.0.1:4080
but it says connection was refused, even tho the program is running.
There are no icons on MLNet except just blank ones. Where are the real icons?
What happend to the mlnet_gui and servers.ini file that says came with the program in the readme?
the killmlnet script file 'was mistakenly marked as an executeable' or as BeOS told me, so it doesnt work anymore.

At least now you listen, sorry mmlr about that but it was on purpouse : )
I was pretty frustrated by how things began to work (I mean not work) on BeOS. I looked at the mldonkey site but I couldn't figure much out about Soulseek.
And hey I fvcking love Soulseek!
"It works for at least the eDonkey network. I can't say anything about the other networks, but there seem to be known problems with connecting to G2."
Good now I know that because when some bogomips on iscomputeron.com said that there's already Soulseek support in MLnet I was going like "Yessss!" no more windows but I guess not : /
I'll try it with the fvcking Phos beta6 version I have.

The build of this version of MLNet should work better than the previous ones. Install O'Caml 3.08.4 first and then edit the "build/configure" script changing "REQUIRED_OCAML=" to "3.08.4". Then you can configure. I used "configure --prefix=/boot/home/config --enable-soulseek --enable-opennap". That way it should build just fine.

With nobody you appearantly mean me. Well, if you really have a problem with me posting this port on bebits, I can remove it. But I don't think that anyone would gain through this.
As I said below already I did never use soulseek and I do not have any knowledge of how it's implemented or supported in MLNet. If you want to know this, you should just ask the people who actually know, the ones who implemented it in MLNet.
Just because this here is a BeOS port doesn't mean that I can, want to or even have to support it. If it was a BeOS specific problem then you could blame me for it, but as this is probably a configuration thing I really can't help you in any way.
Hell I absolutely hate this kind of comments. Especially if I already stated that I don't know how to help and pointed to a better source of information. Things like this really make me ask myself why I even care to port stuff. I don't know if I'm gonna update this, really.

1. There is no "enable_soulseek" in the options menu of the MLdonkey interface.
2. In a german FAQ (WIKI) is noted that Soulseek support is highly experimental. -> http://www.mldonkey.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=start:faq&s=soulseek#soulseek_--_nuetzliche_informationen

Sorry but I can't help you on this as I never used soulseek. This probably not the right place to ask this anyway as this is really only a port of the source.
Best would be to ask on the official MLNet homepages that can be reached through the "Hompage" link and the two related links on the application page.

Do not start mlnet by doubleclicking it from Tracker. If you do so it will take your home folder as working directory (always, it doesn't matter where you installed it). This also happens if you open a Terminal and just drop in the "mlnet" application. You have to change to the installation path first using "cd".
Please do read the instructions on the main page and doubleclick the "launchmlnet" file in the installtion directory instead. If that doesn't work (you probably have spaces in your installation path) then open up a Terminal, cd "/install/path" (with quotes) and launch mlnet by typing "mlnet" (without quotes).
To get into the webinterface just type in "127.0.0.1:4080" into the addressbar of your browser (just like you type in bebits.com to get here). The ed2k protocol handler is to be able to use ed2k links from within mozilla, not to get into the webinterface.
Hope this helps.

Yes, that should have been MB. I had to do the add-process twice because mozilla crashed on me (strange thing, probably because of the experimental code...). Thanks for the report!
I posted the new binary mainly because of feedback about the 100% CPU problem. This should be fixed now.
As suggested I will also try to compile the GTK GUI but I guess it uses GTK2 and the GTK port for BeOS is only version 1.2.
Thanks for the feedback!

One more must have application which was keeping me from leaving Linux and moving back to BeOS, had read earlier that the mldonkey guys had expressed interest in what was happening on BeOS with mldonkey when Yellowtab were talking about it. So if they're not aware of this, they'd probably be interested in what changes were necessary etc. and folding the code back into the main project. Anyway, most of the team is really nice, they're on irc.freenode.net #mldonkey. Groovy that we'll have the g2gui when java is finished also :) although something native would be much cooler.
Anyway, this is excellent, keep up the good work.

If you are behind a router or firewall, make sure the required ports are forwarded/open. Otherwise you get a low-ID in the donkey network, and servers could reject you for this reason. e.g. The ports for the donkey (if not changed in the settings files) to be forwarded are:
4661, 4662(tcp), 4665, 4666(udp). In the FAQs, it is said to be easiest, when just forwarding ports 4660-4670. )
