Not sure if anyone has looked at gphoto. But it seems that this app could be a solution for alot of camera users. I believe at one time the sources for 1.0 was compilible for BeOS. www.gphoto.com.

Nice work!
Now for the real challenge: make an application or plugin around dcraw.c, so "normal" users can use it too :-)
