We had a 'scheduled' power outage in the building
most of today, but unfortunately (because I didn't
shut down properly first (:-() the web server didn't
come back up! Should be OK now.

But even if diff 'ignores whitespace', it's still
matching *lines*. If you've reformatted a paragraph of text without changing
the words, diff will see it all as changed, whereas spiff
will consider it unchanged unless the words themselves don't match.

diff already has various options to ignore whitespace, so it seems it would have the same capabilities as spiff in that regard. The numeric comparisons are neat though.
