Hi,

Nice to see this game on BeOS.
I play it TOO much on the PDA.
Just one question: Could you let the gems fall down like in Bejeweled.

Actually, most people use the defaults, whatever the defaults are (good or bad).

To play the game, I suggest you find and copy the BeOS original libpng.so and zlibz.so on the "gemz folder/libs/" folder and keep the new libpng.so for the rest of your apps. BeOS will first try to find the libpng and *zlibz.so libs on the "app folder/lib" folder and then on the system folders, so this will take care of your problem.

Didn't say it was your fault

I didn't say it was your faultbut I'm not sure many people have stuck with the default libs. Most people I know run Libpack as it's required for most the SDL ports & other assorted apps.

In any case I guess any one running Libpack as the system default lib set can't play this.

That's exactly what I am saying when I say "dll hell". You installed a new non-Be-derived library package on top of a *system* library. That's how dll hell happens.

So, that ain't my fault. If you want to use third party libraries that overwrite *system* libraries (libpng came with BeOS, therefore it is considered a "system" lib) you should be ready for the concequences: incompatibilities.

As I said in my previous post..

Eugenia, Jess got updated libpng (along with other libraries) from here:
http://bebits.com/app/3322

There is no libraries hell for users, unless we want it to be.

Mine is the original BeOS 5.0.3 library from May 2000. I guess you will need to downgrade, I don't know where you found that newer libpng, but it ain't compatible (welcome to Linux's dependency hell).

Well, you didn't reply to my question. I need to know the dates of your libpng.so (there should be either 1 or 2 of them on your system)

I'm running

Signature in rsrc doesn't match constructor arg. (application/x-SDL-executable,application/x-vnd.SDL-Gemz)
libpng warning: Application was compiled with png.h from libpng-1.0.5
libpng warning: Application is running with png.c from libpng-1.2.5
libpng error: Incompatible libpng version in application and library
Fatal signal: Segmentation Fault (SDL Parachute Deployed)

What version of BeOS are you running? and please check your /home/config/lib/ and /develop/lib/ and see if you are running a newer libpng there. I just linked it against the stock BeOS 5.0.3 version. The dates of your libpng should be around May 2000.

Wrong header problem

Hey thanks for the port. It dies here saying the libpng header it was built with is older then what I'm running.
Thanks again,
- Jess
