My syslog shows the following, but I do have USB activated in the BIOS:

Hi,

Thanks _very_ much for this _opensource_ driver :-)
Works OK with this USB2.0 full-speed compliant device on an original Dano install (so at USB1.1 speed I guess).

Thanks again!

I have a VP6 board and I installed the USB patch a long time ago without any issues. I only go into KDL when I use this mass storage driver without the sysinit2 flag.

Are you tried on "clean" R5? No other drivers were installed?

It hink, that 2:4 combination satisfy most of users. If we set it to 1:1 there will be more scream about "non-working" second devices and "non-visible" slots in multi-card readers. But your hint for speeding up is also useful. I'll put it into next version of documention. Thanks

I think the default settings are more than most people need - with 8 temporary drives the mount menu is quite slow to appear. I set devices to 1 and luns to 1, and my mount menu is now much quicker. Maybe you could ask during instalation how many devices they want to connect at once or something?

OK, the problem wasn't your driver at all... I had installed a very early USB Mass Storage driver someone else had written (Ito I think), before I installed the usb patches it simply did nothing, but after installing it threw me into KDL.

I deleted the file /config/add-ons/kernel/drivers/bin/usb_mass, reinstalled your driver, rebooted, and it worked!

Thanks very much! One more thing I don't have to boot windows to do. Now I just need to write a fast thumbnail viewer that gets the small thumbnail embedded in most digital camera JPEGs without having to read the whole file.

I actually re-installed Pro 5 the weekend as well. I installed the USB patches as well but with no problems, only got KDL when installing the mass storage driver.
After changing the init file to ignore sys_init_2 it works fine.

Make sure you follow the readme for the USB_patches completetly, there might have gone something wrong there.

ABIT VP6 - It's the USB-patches
 By beforum_VBL! - Posted on June 10, 2004 - 21:44:34   (#12820)

I reinstalled BeOS Pro and found out the crash occurs when I install the USB-patches NOT the USB Storage Module. I just want to be clear that the issues with my VP6 board have nothing to do with zharik's driver. BeOS crashes when the patches are applied. So I have no chance of installing the module.

So until the patches are fixed, a work around is found or I get a new computer I have no chance of using this driver for my pen drive.

Thanks,
bd

- goes system into KDL if you boot with already connected camera?
- which other usb devices/drivers do you have/have installed ?
- could you, please, do the following:
in /boot/home/config/settings/kernel/drivers/kernel uncomment the [usually last] string in it:

load_symbols enabled

after that reboot and try to crash the system again. After you go into KDL - run "sc" command. The most above line is very interesting for me. Thank.

Hi,

Good work with the driver. Unfortunately when I plug in my Fuji 2600Z and turn it on, I get thrown into KDL (USB_Osomething thread from memory).

Running R5 with the patches.

Do you want a log?

Works for me

works nicely with Panasonic D-Snap Cameras (tested SV-AS10 only)

Just what the one-liner above says. I've tested both photos and videos, and both are working, so I assume that audio is working as well. Keep up the great work... maybe soon we can have have an SBP2 stack for firewire devices as well :-)

As I reported on the sourceforge.net forum for this driver, it does not work with Polaroid-PCD2150 (a cheap camera slightly popular some years ago in Spain, since a newspaper sold it at bargain prices), even when tweaking it to read any USB class. PDC2150 seems to be USBMS compliant (it is detected as a hard drive by windows, even without driver), but it seems it's not really USBMS (its USB device class is 255, not 8).

I have a VP6 board as well and it crashes on me. Once I installed Bone it worked ok. And I say ok because my system would crash every so often or would slow down to a stop.

I'm not sure if it's because of the USB chipset on the board or what.

I'm still using Bone but I want to go back to R5 Pro...but I need to use my USB so I stay with Bone...but..but...but...I hope that a cure is found!

Excellent!

My Memorex ThumbDrive (128MB flash keychain drive) works perfectly, faster than in windows actually.

My Toshiba PDR-2300, however, is detected but displays a "general OS error" when I attempt to mount it (the same type of error that displays when I try to read a floppy disk from a broken floppy drive).

Thank you for all your work on this driver, this makes a world of difference and saves me a ton of time!

Some investigations required from your side ...

Hmm... Interesting. Is this problem reproducible on your system?

PS: If you don't mind we can try to find out where has your system crashed and decide is this driver problem or not. Do you agree? Write me an imker(at)gmx.li then.

Hi,

this works fine for my HP Photosmart 7960 Printer too. (Using BeOS 5.0.3 with all OpenBeOS patches)

Now a decent printer driver for this printer and I'm in heaven. It currently only prints text using the HP PCL3 driver. Binkjet doesn't work for it :(

Thanx

This would allow BeOS to have acess to 400 cameras
