My quickfox browser has a built-in ability to completely block the useless annoying plugin message. But limitations such as no flash/java make it so that not all websites are displayed.

Love to see a new BeOS version.
I hope there will be a decent webbrowser too.
One the that can print a page can show all something
other then " download the plugin " .
If I cannot see all websites under BeOS I am forced
to switch to linux :-(.

We have already added vmware network support driver and the video driver. I will test the vmwmouse driver on real hardware to make sure it doesn't cause any problems (it shouldn't but who knows, it might try to break away from the screen ;-) ) and I will include it too.

widescreen support depends on the laptop panel and video chipset. The latest Haiku nVidia drivers support widescreen mode, though by default the driver only displays modes it believes the screen can support. There are a couple of workarounds - feel free to email me to discuss.

I changed the download description from beosmaxfiles.org USA server to beosmaxfiles.org Italian server. Vasper gets unlimited hosting there, but the server is in Italy. I recently upgraded my hosting plan from my quickfoxbrowser.com website and I have 500GB/month plus so everyone go ahead and download from the USA server, if you're located closer there than the other servers.

I have a SMC En5030B1

Network card.
It works fine under BeOS Max, but under Pro 5, it detects, but had no drivers.
Where can I find the drivers off this CD, considering half the links (including that to SMC drivers) on bebits are dead. :/

From an email.
"For some reason there has been a reapearance of an old BeOS Max Distro
as news of a new distro on QUBE.ru and on JPBE.net! We speculate it is a
misunderstanding that has to do with the download link of v3.1b1 being
hosted on beos.spb.ru. This is not a new version, and there will be no
new versions of the BeOS Max distro released by us.
Vassilis 'vasper' Perantzakis"
So that's it. I will remove the link to '3b2' on the main page.

There has been a mixup. I did not in fact ad v2 but someone else did (you can add an 'alternate' location from the main page) . I can't yet confirm if v2 is yet a dupe (because of Hashbrown is going to be updated soon, then I will be able to check the large file). Here is a related link
http://www.beosmax.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
Read the Apr 21 message. If you read the wiki main message, you will understand about the 'bashing' part. Vassilis used the word not as in a negative way, but in a 'reminder' way.

I've contacted the admin there and I will update when he replies. Mean-while you could use the first download link for the file. Thanks for your patience.

Since illhostit.com just disappeared without warning, where my previous website was. I updated all links on the main page to point to my new, working website. I have changed the homepage to BeOSMax forums. Now, since I get 150GB/month transfer, I can easily host the BeOS5PEMaxEditionV31b1.zip file on my server. Very fast download speed, and physical location in Seattle, USA.
The maxedition install is being uploaded right now, check the downloads for the quickfoxbrowser.com link.
Thanks!

I now have a good archive that I've burned and installed from a couple times for good measure, and it works 100%. For those who can't use Nero cue files, multi image burn, and so forth, and have questions about how to burn it, I'm willing to rip it from the CD to a regular iso and zip that up if it makes the install easier. Maybe we could call it the "new guy friendly'" iso or something.

Updates:
Removed broken link to be max file, from the main bebits entry. External links re-worked and 2 new ones added.
Uncluttered main page and added app info, other links.
Corrupted zip file - first noticed by qwerty12 on February 2, 2006
MD5sum 88a37414c5789bfb91800906651e041c, this is the sum of the corrupted .zip archive, and is hosted at
http://beos.spb.ru/program/118/BeOS5PEMaxEditionV31b1.zip
The link to the patch (only can use under windows) ftp://beos.spb.ru/incoming/Diver/bemaxpatch.exe
is dead and the proper link is available here:
http://www.quickfox.illhostit.com/BeOS-MAX/bemaxpatch.zip
Sauron (ptyerman@punkass.com) is said to have a good version of the .zip file, I will be working things out with him when I get an email reply, and then get the *Proper* zip file. From here, progress will be done.
What needs to be done, from this point on: contact the admin at beos.spd.ru and ask them to remove the .zip file in question, it is not practical to use a band-aid approach to this issue. (some one else who knows, send the info my way or better, do it yourself). After it is removed, the *Proper* zip file will be uploaded AND then compared to the *Proper* MD5 sum. Subsequently there after the main page will be updated with links to the good file!
Second: Establish an alternate or main host for the *Proper* zip file. I am willing to host it, providing my monthly bandwidth doesn't go over... I only get 20GB/month and I'm not sure if hosting the file it will go over it. ChaOS, aka Chris Knolinger, aka Miraculix, [website www.zetacanada.com ] has a .torrent hosting solution available to him, and has hoards of bandwidth to host the .torrent on his tracker indefinately. Unfortunately for everyone else, he enjoys playing 'Mr Right' and 'Mrs Wrong' and pulled out a deducement from his bag of tricks, "after long and careful consideration i am not comfortable hosting beosMax, cause technically it's not legal material." Therefore that route is now out of the question (it actually only took 4 minutes for that his reply).
The *Proper* zip file must come to me first, then it will go on my server I pay for each month, then some other site with hoards of bandwidth should jump on the band-wagon and host the *Proper* zip file. Greets go to Deton8R and Sauron for being usefull.
This is the terminal output:
$ unzip -t BeOS5PEMaxEditionV31b1.zip

He hides in the dark and bereaves you of your possessions.
I find this rather suspicious and want to send out a word of caution. Now that a questionable character is in charge of the MAX distro I call for a full audit and caution anyone who tries it blindly until we know.
