Version 0.5 (or beta5) is basically done, except for some missing functionality in the new extended Preferences dialog and other small but annoying things to do.

I will try to complete and release it next weekend.

more development?

Hello,

since you delivered your first beta of friss, I really enjoy it.
I use it in my daily life to check the latest news. But the problem is... Net+
Are you still developing friss, so that you could change this. I really would like it if there would the opportunity to select which browser friss loads to view the full news...

Works great with rssweather.com. Just go to that site and click in your location and save the link on the "xml" button. Use friss's preferences panel to paste in the URL and voila! It also has global weather.

Finally, weather on my desktop!

All I get is the temp. and forecast links, still, it's something!

Thanks! I believe Friss is going to be the first replicant to be placed on my desktop in about 4 years... :) Thanks again!

Tracker issues

Tracker seems to cache the replicants.

Workaround to this: delete the old replicant, restart Tracker (or reboot) and add a new replicant.

Shelfer is still in the older packages, you can download them on my homepage. Originally it was only meant for testing purposes. Anyway, I will make Shelfer and its source available.

As to the title/index display, I think I will add this to the options so everyone can decide for himself.

i upgraded from beta 2.
now the about say i'm still in beta 2 but the replican handle say i'm in beta 4. Because i can't reach slashdot in the replican but i can in the windowed version.

Why having removed the X/Y number of feed in the bank, it was nice. I also notice the shelf is no longuer included, you should release that separate as it's a nice utility.

No, still there.

What BeOS version do you have? R5, Zeta or one of the "other" versions? What are your desktop background settings? Does it not show up at all, or just partially? Is it maybe a redraw problem? Have you tried dragging a Tracker window over it?

Please send a screenshot by eMail if possible!

Hey,

I like the app, but two small things annoys me some.

1. I don't see why there is a minimum limit for the refresh interval. I'd like to set it to 5 min or something, but I'm not "allowed" to set it to less than 15 min. 15 min is a pretty long time, if you ask me.

2. I'm not interested in being able to scroll down even in replicant mode. The scrollbar itself takes up unecessary space. Could this be configurable?

Other than that. I don't know how I managed without this before. :)

Please wait for beta4 ;-)

I am currently rewriting the parser: sourceforge already worked on one of my internal builds.

I think I will be ready to release beta4 within the next few days.

Parsing issues with SourceForge's RSS feeds

There seems to be a problem parsing SourceForge's RSS feeds. It appears that SF includes a lot of textual information in an XML/HTML comment before the actual XML code begins. As a result, friss states that the feed is invalid rather than ignoring the comment. Good work though.

took me time to figure how it work

the first item, fortune teller seem to be clicked very high to have it unroll the menu. After that it seem it's better for other feed
