Yes here is what Pavel said,

About the BeOS version, this problem is there probably because I made this package in latest Zeta. Anyone can report if it works correctly in Zeta?

On my install (and some others), Expander can't open bzip files correctly, even though the file is fine.
You can open a terminal, cd to ~/Downloads/ (or whereever)

$ bunzip2 filename.tar.bz
$ tar xvf filename.tar

You should now have all the files sitting in Pixel/

is it zeta only?

Hi,
I just downloaded the latest version of Pixel32. No Problems during the installation and I'm really impressed how much faster this application is right now.
Even on bigger images effects take much less time than in previos releases of pixel32. Go on with that excellent work!!!

failure on beos.ini
 By stippi - Posted on August 3, 2005 - 03:51:07   (#17385)
Current version when comment was posted: 1.0 RC3 build 446
I downloaded the package, but like previous versions, I cannot get the program to start. It generates a debug log, in which one can read that it tried to load a file "beos.ini" from different locations. But this file is nowhere on my computer. Not very error resistant.

Best regards,
-Stephan

Do not mix demo versions and full versions for members. Demo version cannot be unlocked. If you overwrote your full version with demo version, you can do the same now with full version, just overwrite the demo and it should work as before.

Pavel,

When I downloaded the new build, it is still running in Demo Mode? How do I as a registered user who has purchased Pixel 32, activate or register the new build?

Hi, yes you are right, public demo may be a bit slower, it has debugging turned on and it wasn't optimized yet. Registered users already got latest build 447 which is about 10-30% faster in some areas. Optimizations will continue everytime after code freezing until the final is released.

odd...

Seems like the more I use it the faster it gets,BTW I have tried WonderBrush and comparing it to this app is like comparing apples to oranges, this is a full blown graphic app like Refraction or Gimp that seems to have tons of features,WonderBrush is a lighter weight program like Artpaint or Xpaint

Try Wonderbrush, it is written from scratch for the beos and it is far the best grafic app right now.

Hi
and thanks for your answer. I guess the problem is, that I didn't install pixel to /boot/apps/ and so the installer-script wasn't able to rename the config.def-file.
The logfile contained the following line:
/bin/cp: /boot/apps/Pixel/config.def: No such file or directory

So I just renamed the config.def-file to beos.ini and now everything works fine!

Hi...

well in BeOS Pixel should be in /boot/apps/Pixel32 directory and in Zeta in /boot/apps/Graphics/Pixel32...

After installing, corresponding script from .pkg archive is being executed containing this line:

cp /boot/apps/Pixel32/config.def /boot/apps/Pixel32/beos.ini

I have no idea why this didn't work in your install, but as you can see you can create beos.ini file from config.def file and it should work.

Hi,
today I tried to install the new version of Pixel32. The installer worked just fine, but when I tried to start Pixel32 nothing happened. Starting from Terminal showed the following lines:
Error: Error loading configuration from beos.ini
- /boot/beos/apps/Pixel/beos.ini
- /boot/home//beos.ini
- /etc/pixel.ini

System:

I really hope this helps you somehow...

Oops...encountered something funky. Start the program and go Tools->Character Map. It thinks for a second and then just closes the program without crashing or anything. Come to think of it, I think this is how I left it last night too, but not that same menu option. I was working on something, and I can't remember what I clicked on, but the same thing happened.

I like it...good stuff. I can't seem to get the vector buttons to draw anything though. Is that still in progress?

Sometimes drop-down windows flicker and behave strangely so it's hard to select things. Other than that, I'm impressed with the polished images this produces!

Kev

Installation problem
 By kanzelsberger - Posted on December 18, 2004 - 11:03:07   (#15094)

Hello,

this is a bug in Software Valet probably. It should work correctly in Zeta but in older BeOS you will need to create directory /boot/apps/Graphics first. Then Software Valet works ok.

New Installer doesn't work!

Hi,
once again Pixel32 doesn't install correctly on my computer. On RC1 I had to run setup -safe (if I remember right). When I try to install RC2 (demo424) I can choose the destination folder and for a second the Installer appears: "Installation: finished (some space) of 174".
But the Installer doesn't create any directorys or files!

logfile:
Installation: Pixel32
Started: Sat Dec 18 16:48:18 2004

/boot/apps/Graphics/Pixel32/
Type: Folder

Completed: Sat Dec 18 16:48:18 2004

System (Sony Vaio PCG-N505X):
P2 333MHz
96MB RAM
BeOS 5.0.3
OpenTracker
USBPatch
Haiku NeoMagic Display-Driver

Does anyone hava an idea how I get Pixel32 working?

URL is correct, you can try to download from following link:

http://pixel32.box.sk/download/pixel_beos_demo423.pkg

If it doesn't work, it's a web browser fault, then try to use some command line utility as wget :)

Hi, Pavel,
I am having trouble downloading your application, both from Bebits and your Pixel32 page. I have used both NetPositive and Firefox 1.0 (Bone) from Dano. I get your download page with the "click here" option, then when when I click, I get a page full of unintelligible characters.

Anyway, I hope to try out your application. I am impressed with it so far.

Thanks for you efforts.

Printing Problem

Current version when comment was posted: 1.0 RC1 alpha
I've been watching the development of this program for quite a while. I'm very impressed with it, and I bought a registered copy.

When Pixel32 launches, I get an error message:
"CUPS (Common Unix Printing System)
Cannot find library $HOME/config/lib/libcups.so
Printing support will be disabled as required library is missing or you have not configured CUPS to be used as your printing system."

I don't think BeOS uses CUPS, does it? How do I get printing to work in Pixel32.

I say again

I also had the refresh issue, I was able to install off a 1024x768 workspace @ 60htz since this tiny monitor only does 800x600 @ a "non-make-your-eyes-bleed" refresh.

Set up also hung & wouldn't close untill I killed it.

I got a few questions though. When I delete from a transperant layer I get a white section, is this an issue of alpha/beta or the final behavior?

I know the ctrl alt switch was essentially a hack but will the final product adhear to my selection or is alt the defacto like it or not? In the options it's set to ctrl but it doesn't work, only works if I use alt.

The final question is the killer. $100 USD for the final version but WHEN? I'm looking at buying Photoshop CS soon but I'd rather be working in Be if I could. However this product has been in development for what 6 years? When is the release schedualed for?

But the installer hangs at 100% while trying to update registry-files and needs to be killed.

setup runtime error
 By KTMFreak - Posted on October 19, 2004 - 11:37:28   (#14440)

Hmmmm....I get a nice error-message when I try to run the setup-file:

$ setup
Runtime error 216 at 0x80076F6E
0x80076F6E
0xFD001192
0xEDBD2688

0x80060860

So what went wrong? All libs are installed and the little test-programm from the pixel32.box.sk-page works fine.
