Hi guys,
a long time passed by since this application got updated the last time. So I spent some time working on it and rewrote the whole application from the scratch.
I added support for Jukebox information and finally got the application working under Zeta...yay!

usb-support

It's not easy to get crystalfontz-displays in germany and I really don't want to spend a lot of money on this project (purchasing a usb-display and Zeta to compile/test BeCC).
So when I find a cheap display on ebay, I'll start with the usb-support...

I'm willing to test on Zeta and PhOS possable BeOS 5.1

Since I don't have Zeta and an USB-display, these things aren't supported right now. Support for USB-devices is planed (I'm looking for a cheap 634 with usb at ebay) for following versions of BeCC.
The program itself makes heavy use of SerialPort.h and OS.h (so I dont't know if Zeta provides these things).

I know that there aren't that much people who use BeOS and a Crystalfontz-display on their computer, but it would be nice to get a feedback from them. So just write what you like or dislike at BeCC and what you want to see in the next version of BeCC. Would be great to get a feedback from zeta-users too because I have no idea if BeCC really works with that OS...

wrong version

Sorry...I uploaded the wrong zip-archive, which contained the BeCC V0.3alpha-version (deskbar crashes sometimes when you shut down BeOS). Right now you can download the right BeCC V0.3-version which should work without this shutdown-bug.

vu-meter-plugin

For everyone who just can't wait until BeCC V0.3 gets released....here's the vu-meter-plugin:
http://www.fasteagle.de/files/BeCCPlugin.zip
It's a really early release of the plugin and contains some bugs (but it actually works pretty good and hey, it looks reeeeaaaly cool;).
1.) download the zip-archive
2.) unzip the file to the cl-amp-plugins-directory
3.) use the pause-option in the becc-menu to freeze the display (while showing the memory-screen for example)
4.) start cl-amp and activate the plugin (alt + p -> visual)
5.) that's it...

progress of BeCC V0.3

About 30-40% of the CL-Amp-plugin is finished....and hey...the vu-meter looks sooo cooool ;)
In BeCC V0.3 this plugin will be able to display (at least I hope so) the actual name of the song, length, progress, the vu-meter (of course, hehe) and if I get it to work, a spectrum-analyzer...
So...stay tune...

Hey! very cool, yeah a cl-amp or soundplay plugin would be great. Keep up the good work.

Any ideas or suggestions for the next versions? What would you like to see on your crystalfontz-display? Anyone interested in displaying the content of a textfile or maybee network-stats?
And how do you like the actual version? Would you like to see more informations of seti or some changes in the diskspace-screen? So tell me...I need some feedback ;)

Thanks, but it's still a lot of work until this app works like it should. By the way, which Crystalfontz-Display are you using? The 634? And do you have any suggestions for the next version of BeCC?

Plans for the next versions are:
- a preferences window
- less bugs (Deskbar crashes from time to time, when you exit this app....so, hands away from the exit-menu!;)
- maybe a cl-amp-plugin (for track-infos, etc...)
- usb-support for the new Crystalfontz-Displays
- whatever you want to see...so post your comments!

serial port

Hi sarana,
are you sure your Crystalfontz-display is connected to serial port 1? Just try serial port 2, 3 or 4. If this doesn't work, open preferences => devices and check if the serial ports are enabled or have any conflicts with other devices.
I tried this app on 2 Computers (BeOS 5.0.3) and 2 different serial ports and it worked just fine. By the way, which Crystalfontz-display do you use? The 634?

Hi, KTMFreak,

I tried this after following your readme instructions, and I get from the terminal:

$ /BFS/Downloads/BeCC/BeCC
reading config-file...(done)
opening com-port 1...(failed)

I don't think this worked. If you need any other details, please let me know and I will provide them.

Thanks for the effort.

Hope you'll like it ; )

Hi...
...this is my very first BeOS-application and I hope you'll like it. Just post a comment if you like it (or not) and write what you want to see in the next version of BeCrystalControl.
