With the help of this package, I can get sound out of my once abandoned Armada 1750, which has good built-in speakers. During installation, It also offered to automatically remove the other non-working 1869 drivers that I had installed previously. Thanks!
However, the sound is choppy and the CPU usage is high. Also, after a reboot, the setting is lost, and I have to go through the driver installation procedure again to get the sound back. I wonder if there are newer updates that can fix these problems, which the author has already mentioned here, or if there are other drivers that can do a better job.

Thank you for this driver!!!
It works on my Armada 3500 series notebook quite nicely! There are many faults in the sound but it's great to get some sound..

Just FYI, the ESS 1869 based AudioDrive is almost always used on an ISA bus, not a PCI bus. That is certainly the case in the Armada 17xx notebooks; the AudioDrive is the 4th and 5th device on the ISA bus. The incompatibility with Zeta probably has to do with the operating system driver API. I repeat, since I don't have Zeta (let alone any API information for it) I simply have no way of fixing this to work on Zeta. Sorry. :-(
On another note, if this is working for anybody out there I'd love to hear about it. Just drop me a line saying "hi" and if it's working (or not). If this driver helps you, a positive vote would be appreciated too.

memson, what's the PCI ID of your sound card/chipset? Might be it just needs to be added to the driver for it to work.

I can confirm that this driver does not work under Zeta... Not for my onboard audio, anyway.

Sorry, I haven't tested this on Zeta. I only have BeOS R5.0.3 to play with. Still working on getting recording working and optimizing for performance...

Has anyone tried this under Zeta?? Zeta (RC3 and Neo) completely ignores my ESS1869 based onboard... Might try this is a second... ;-)
