Astroseries for Windows is stand-alone. If you are using Windows (98 or higher), you can go to Astroseries.Com and download the game, unzip it, and play it right away. Its all included.
However, I'm affraid that if you are using Linux or any other OS, then you have no choice but to follow the steps explained earlier in this article...

ModeenF: i had to trick the configure program and make a little changes to the source (only the headers)
bs0: if you have all correctly installed, just type stratagus. Copy the output and paste here.

I tryed to compile this one.. but hade problem with LUA (had it installed but no luck).. will test this as fast as posible..

so in terminal, i must type "./stratagus" or "./stratagus -d data/" ? none of them works with Battle of survival :/
