hello !
I'm looking for this driver for Windows Vista... my camera is a finepix A204. I know that I'm not at the good place for windows drivers, but I've spent hours on the net without finding anything... If somebody could help me, I would be very grateful !

Very nice to see drivers like this.
I hope there will be more in the near future.
( like for the Fuji S5600, which I like to buy soon )

I tried some variations of BeOS 5 today and was able to recreate a KDL when I installed the "Usb patches". Here are the results I got:
BeOS 5.0 - Did not work
BeOS 5.0.3 - Worked
BeOS 5.0.3 with USB patch - Did not work (KDL)
(All of these were PE and without Bone)
I'm a bit puzzled as to why it doesn't work with the USB patches, but then works with Dano (and on 5.0.3 without patches).

I also started a driver for my sonix webcam (sn9c102 based, vendor 0x0c45) some months ago, but I'm still busy atm...

Hi, nice attempt to bring more modern USB webcam support to BeOS.
I even wrote little newspiece about that at www.qube.ru
Unfortunately attempt to use Test program or TV app (there is FinePix producer now in MediaSettings, without controls) - both bring to KDL.
Tried it at IBM thinkpad R40e + BeOS Max with BONE and "USB-patches" (actually pre-Dano USB stack which works at R5) + USB(_scsi) mass-storage module vy Siarzhuk Zharski and camera is Fuji FinePix Z2600 .
It seems that crash happens in OHCI driver, but i'm unsure atm.
When i will back at home after my trip into Sweden (so
- not earlier than end of August), i will try to investigate and solve this problem myself, and hope at your help)
Will try it also at other machines and another camera - S7700

Hi,
Yes, it's not that much code that is device dependant. If you look at http://icm532.sourceforge.net/ there is a Linux driver and at least the source code should contain some information :-)
Another possibility is using SnoopyPro under Windows to capture the packages sent to and from the camera for reverse engineering.
But first I would check which types of Endpoints it supports (see last comment).
Cheers

Hi,
A few cameras not listed might work as some of the ID strings I have didn't have camera names. But I think the newer FinePix's (after summer 2004) use a diffent setup for their webcam mode, so it might be hard to support them. To find out you can either use USBDeskBar or the Terminal (don't remember the command of the top of my head) to show which USB Endpoints the camera has, this driver should work if the camera has bulk-in, bulk-out and interrupt Endpoints (non working ones only have bulk-in).
And if the camera uses an isochronous endpoint to transfer data it will not work at all as they are not supported by BeOS as far as I know.
Cheers

Hi,
The debugger output seems to indicate that the driver couldn't connect to the camera (yes, this should be handled more cleanly...). This can be the case if you are running other drivers/software that uses the USBKit like USBDeskbarView.
If you run FinePixTest from a terminal that should output more debugging information. You will need to remove the driver first though and restart the media services, or else the driver tries to take control of the camera.
Hope this can be of some help.
Cheers

I've got sort of an noname USB webcam lying around - found out it is ICM532 based. I was looking at your source code and was surprised how little device-dependant stuff there was! Is there any on-line docs for ICM532? I found none...

Hi, good to see this driver here, too bad I now have a new Fuji F10 and no longer my old (but very nice) S3000!!!! :) So my question is, is it possible to add support to your driver for the F10?
I can try it when I get home tonight, just to see if it does work even if not listed.
Take care,
DaaT

hello,
the driver unfortunately doesn't work with a FinePix A204 camera and BeOS r5(with USB Patches installed). The media-addon runs fine, but both Cortex and Codycam crash when connecting to the media node. The debugger displays the following message:
