It should be something like that :

mkdir -p /boot/home/config/add-ons/kernel/drivers/dev/net

mkdir -p /boot/home/config/add-ons/kernel/drivers/bin

cp -p rt25xx /boot/home/config/add-ons/kernel/drivers/bin/

cd /boot/home/config/add-ons/kernel/drivers/dev/net

ln -s ../../bin/rt25xx

Some errors may occur if folder already exits.
Good luck

Is it me, or are the folders where you have to drag the files to in Zeta non-existent?

/boot/home/config/add-ons/kernel/drivers/bin

Can I drop the files somewhere else?

I've checked also my installation and it seems that I have forgotten something. The driver appears in Boneyard but as soon I tried to change the configuration file, every time I use firefox (even to just take a look to the bebook) I enter in the KDL and I was obliged to install BeOS. I use BeOS DevED 2.2.4

Some progress, I didn't make the link /boot/home/config/add-ons/kernel/drivers/dev/net .
I get an error making such hard link now I made a
system link, is that OK?

Anyway now after reboot the card shows up in bone.
When I try to save the configuration it brings me
in KDL, I have got no idea what to do with that.

No I've checked and the ID gift by windows is 1814 and 0201. I've tried with DeveED 2.2 and it's like it was not installed. It does not appears in Netserver neither in Bone and there is nothing in Syslog.

Mu you may want to check which chip exactly is on your card, we have come to a fairly solid conclusion that this driver doesn't yet support the latest version of the chipset, rt256x.

None of those was.

Damn, how I hate these resellers who never clearly tell you what product you'll effectively get.
Nowhere on the reseller site, their invoice and even on the Sitecom box they say it's a "v2" product. Except on the barcode :-(

Is it really that different from rt2560 chip???

Anyway, thanks for quick (even if sad) reply.

Correction, after a look at the PCI card, it's a rt2561 chip:

RT2561ST
QC61330B0
0543ST

The MAC address written on the back of the card is:

00:0C:F5:1B:4C:ED

Hope this could help.

Newer Sitecom WL-115 PCI not working
 By Philippe Houdoin - Posted on May 3, 2006 - 16:24:41   (#19631)

Hi Patrick,

I just bought a Sitecom WL-115 PCI card, looking for a PCI card supported under BeOS to bring back Internet connectivity under my beloved operating system to my desktop system. Due to phone jack location in my new home, I can't anymore use ethernet wire to access my gateway...

Anyway, I was hoping that latest WL-115 cards were still based on the same RT2500 chipset and using the same vendor/device IDs.

Bad luck. Mine is: 0x1814 / 0x0301. Yep, not 0x0201 but 0x0301. You would have already figured out that your driver don't work:

KERN 'rescan'[597]: publish_command(rt25xx): start
KERN 'rescan'[597]: not known
KERN 'rescan'[597]: rt25xx: Ralink RT2500 802.11bg WLAN PCI adapter driver
KERN 'rescan'[597]: rt25xx: version 0.0.6, copyright © 2005 Patrick Lafarguette
KERN 'rescan'[597]: rt25xx: compiled on Dec 22 2005, 18:54:40
KERN 'rescan'[597]: rt25xx: init_hardware
KERN 'rescan'[597]: rt25xx: no device supported

I've then patched the driver binary using DiskProbe to turn its 0x0201 device ID into a 0x0301: Hurray, one device recognized:

KERN 'rescan'[700]: publish_command(rt25xx): start
KERN 'rescan'[700]: rt25xx: Ralink RT2500 802.11bg WLAN PCI adapter driver
KERN 'rescan'[700]: rt25xx: version 0.0.6, copyright © 2005 Patrick Lafarguette
KERN 'rescan'[700]: rt25xx: compiled on Dec 22 2005, 18:54:40
KERN 'rescan'[700]: rt25xx: init_hardware

KERN 'rescan'[700]: rt25xx: publish_devices
KERN 'rescan'[700]: rt25xx: uninit_driver
KERN 'rescan'[700]: publish_command(rt25xx) done

But, unfortunatly, it was not enough to make it works (under BONE):

As you could see from my syslog, it's based on a rt2560.
Do you think this new card could be supported by your driver in a future release? A better patched one?

Thanks.

You think it will be possible to add support for USB based devices? I bought specifically a RT2500 based device in the hope it was going to be supported (Asus).

When activating my WLAN profile it freezes.
But I´m not sure if it´s the driver´s fault or ZETA´s.

FYI:
I´ve got a Belkin PCI card, Vendor ID: 0x1814, Device: 0x0201 (as shown on ZetaPC-Info).

Anyway, go on like that! :)

I realy like your work :) have you any thought about WPA suport for your cards (intel 2200GB)

RE:Very technical explination, hard to understand
it's there ;)

probably all cards that are made of Ralink RT2500 chipset

Like the cards that the driver was developped with.
Sitecom WL-115 (PCI)
Sitecom WL-112 (Cardbus)

So make a search on Ralink RT2500 and every one that uses this driver can report what card they are using.

Could you make a section on the rt25xx page, stating what wireless devices that this driver supports?
It just seems to me a bunch of mumbo-jumbo technical words to do with wireless networks.

Cool

Thanks Patrick ofr the new driver for my Conceptronic C54Ri PCI card. Is recognized (net_server) but i have to disable my ethernet card to make it run... and gets into KDL (rt25xx_seg0). If you need more details about the KDL send me a mail, thanks!

About the configuration, why are two different devices? May I erase one? May I copy the syame info into the other device? An open network without privacy may look as this (as i have, MAC controlled by MAC):

device 0 {
mode 1
channel 11
ssid wifinet
privacy 0
authentication 0
format 0
key0
key1
key2
key3
}?
I'm desesperated, i can't use my wifi features either with the ralink nor the iwp2200 on my laptop. If i can use wifi on BeOS (net_server only) for sure i'll make a donation :)

Thanks
