It would be great if onje could use metadata and mime types from BFS as objects (people files, emails, live querries - directories...)

other diagramm types?! ;-)

Great prog!!!

Can you add support for other types of diagrams (like UML and other) in future?!

(like the most flexible VISIO, the very very slow Poseidon for UML or on my favorite, the full IDE embedded eclipse UML)

Moving Edges
 By rst - Posted on December 15, 2005 - 14:16:27   (#18607)

Hello. To move an edge and also the depending children, click on the wanted edge to be moved with the left mouse button and gold it pressed, move now to the edge you like. This edge will highlight in two colors. Releasing at outside color will mean to add the moving edge as a child or to the inside color to add in the same level. When you move to main root you can decide with the color at which side you like to add the edge. It's a bug at the moment that all edges will automatic add to the right side. Will later change. To add text to a link make a double click on the link, then the text box for entering text will appear. A better help as the text inside the readme will be available in one of the next versions.
Greetings Ralf

Working Well

I like this application. Working on R5. However, I did run across a few things.

1. If no 'edges' are selected and Red Arrow is pressed, pop up to 'select 2 edges' has 3 buttons and all are blank.

2. If 2 edges are selected and have Red Arrow connecting them, and one edge is deleted, then Application will crash.

3. In looking at your screenshot, how do you get edges on different sides of the First Edge? Or can individual edges be moved? Seems like when new edges are created, they appear on right side. And only entire 'tree' can be moved as one unit.

4. In screenshot, how to get text on Red Arrow? Like with the red arrow that has 'more calls' on it.

So far this application shows great promise. Thank you for your efforts.

Notes programs

Treepad is more of a freeform notes program, like Keynote for Windows (http://www.tranglos.com/free/keynote.html) or what Notes (http://www.bebits.com/app/3848) seems to be shaping up to be. While I certainly would like to see such a program developed for BeOS, I think BeMapOfMind is a different type of program, a graphical representation of conceptual information. Being able to create a graphical "tree", like a family tree or company heirarchy, might be appropriate, but that's structured information, not like free-form notes. Unless the author is ambitious and wants to create some kind of dual-program, say where any diagram is converted into a more conventional notes structure.

One of my website member told me that a pretty neat feature for this kind of shematic workspace are the ability to write kind of comments on the links between ideas or relations.

What you think ?

Cool!

Tried it out last night on 5.0.3. Cool! I still don't know how useful it really will be, but it's fun to play with. One thing I would suggest is to give the user more control over the visual elements, especially the placement of the boxes or nodes. It'd be nice to click and drag it where you want it, and just have the linking line follow wherever it goes.
A natural extension of the program would be flowcharting elements (which could be used for programming, obviously, but also for any type of decision-making or looping process).
Ever looked at FX or Audio Architect (for Windows)? They're software synths, but they have visual modules that the user places and links together in various ways, similar to this type of program.

It's great that you take MindManager as reference. I just want to suggest that you also take a look at StoryView (http://www.screenplay.com/products/storyview/).

It’s a very useful and powerful Outliner with features that could very well enrich a program of this kind.

I’m very interested in this kind of applications. They’re extreme useful to anyone involved in writing or generally in need to structure ideas or a project.

Thanks,
jdf

I'm always interested in apps like this that provide a graphical representation of ideas. However, having never used MindManager, I'm not sure how good or useful this particular package might be.
I'm using 5.0.3, so I can't check out the Zeta version.

great app!!

Keep it up!
