Rafael, thanks for the port. Is there any chance you could do a port of 1.8.6 as well? Also, just in case you decide to stop porting ruby to Zeta, is there any chance you could write up some docs on what you did to port ruby to our beloved platform? Thanks! Serpentor

you can find a new version & howto build (german) here
http://thaler-online.com/zetawiki/index.php?title=Ruby
network should hopefully now work!
I will not update the bebits entry - no interest
will change it in some days to invisible
I've tested it with:
#!/boot/home/config/bin/ruby
require 'net/http'
h = Net::HTTP.new('www.beinformed.at', 80)
file='/ruby/ruby.gif'
resp=h.get(file, nil)
File.open("./ruby.gif", "wb") { |f|
f.print resp.body
}

Tried to compile myself, but for some reason it will not compile correct with bone/zeta. Even if you get all the headers and includes right, it will not build a working socket library.

I hope so :), now it has a socket.so,
so please download it again!
and please tell me if it's now ok or not.

Is it only me or has anyone else noticed that the network stack is not working?
Try ruby -e 'require "net/http"' and you get an error message about missing socket.so library.

It works, definitely. I was able to compile it some time ago. It worked out of the box, except that you need to specify you want to compile the addons statically.
|
|
| I'll check it out... |

...then I saw that it was only for Zeta. Any chance it would run on Bone? Are sources/build scripts available to see if it is possible to tweak for R5?
