Step 1. Goto the /boot/apps/MozillaSunbird/chrome directory
Step 2. Unzip the file calendar.jar
Step 3. Extract only the file
..content/calendar/preferences/preferences.xul
Step 4. Open this file in your text editor of choice.
Step 5. At the end of line 55: xmlns="http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"
add the greater-than character ">"
so that line 55 looks like this:
xmlns="http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul">
Step 6. Save your changes to the preferences.xul file and then replace the old one in the classic.jar archive with the new one you just edited. (Use Beezer to just drag and drop into the right directory in the archive).
This worked for me.
Thanks,
hey68you

I confirm this.
Therefore I change some Sunbird parameters editing files sunbird-l10n.js and/or sunbird.js in /boot/apps/MozillaSunbird/defaults/pref
Thus I, for example, installed the Ukrainian language of interface for Sunbird (my native language).

Thanks for porting this. Do you know why I'm getting this error when I select the Tools->Options menu?:
XML Parsing Error: not well-formed
Location: chrome://calendar/content/preferences/preferences.xul
Line Number 57, Column 5: <prefpane id="paneGeneral"
