I was not able to get the burnt CD to work:

I got a message like this one:
Panic not max_argv arguments/memory?...

I burnt the CD with the Jaba with Zeta 1.2 and with Nero under Window XP booth versions didn't work.

HAIKU is working with Qemu.
The HAIKU build was from 2.September.

Ah today there is a new HAIKU image available. So I will try today to test this "sept 1.st" image.

Same Version?

I tried today the BeOs script and it was working as it should. One week ago I downloaded the other link and used it with Nero on Windows and it worked.

The only think is the Haiku Versions were on both from the 06. August 2006 so how to get the newer Version?

I burned a CD with the two .image files (first the boot one and then haiku.image). When I reboot, I get the Haiku Boot Manager giving me a few different options, but "Continue booting" is greyed out. I can never select it! Any idea what is causing this?

Good Attempt, and Ignore Mr. X

Paulo, it works well for me, but I generally do not bother making a live cd, I just mount the image and copy it to my Haiku test partition. However, I run BeOS 24/7 on this machine, so I've no need. It is *very* nice to have an easy script to download the current Haiku image

Ignore most of what Mr.X says. He's a teenage wannaBe who was permanently banned from BeShare for his attitude and has nowhere else to get attention.

Works nice...

Downloaded the Windows version ( No BeOs/Zeta System)

Just tried it, without problems.
I downloaded the files and unzipped them with the windows expander to a folder.
Then I started Nero and choose burn image. I choose the .cue file and burned the CD.
Then I restarted the computer and choose boot from CD...
Worked out of the box here.
It is slow because it has to start from CD, so all drivers have to been found and installed, but after about 3min Haiku was ready to go...
Great idea works...

besides - it's alpha

Oh, and it's alpha - so stop complaining about beta-testing as it hasn't even reached that state yet...

If you actually looked at the script, you could plainly see how it works. It downloads the image, mounts it, and creates the 2 image files directly from the download haiku.image.

If the script doesn't work, you could be much more constructive by testing each statement in the script one at a time to find out which is failing on YOUR machine.

I'd rather communicate about an app not working than be a vegetable and not say anything just not to be 'rude' or what ever you like to call it. Does that sound reasonable, or would you rather have no one ever talkback to risk someone getting 'offended'? Sound reasonable, or ridiculus.

because...

Mr X is rude to everyone on BeBits. All the time, no matter what the app, as long as its not his he whinges and bitches about it. As go his "apps", I can't really see the point of him posting a deskbar icon and then moaning about the download level of it - its not something most normal people are going to care about.

why so rude BeOS Mr X?

Serious beta testing of this script was not performed. Therefore errors and files missing are a result: HaikuCDimage.cue - where is bootcd.image ? not to be found. Please make a new version this time - if you need someone to test for you then email me:

paulojbe:

I'm thinking this should be posted to the Haiku wiki (there's already a placeholder for it on the wiki main page here: http://www.haiku-os.org/wiki/index.php?title=Getting_Haiku )

A link to the bebits script, and maybe some instructions on how to do it manually would be great.

If you don't have time to do this yourself, I can do it when I find some spare time, but I wanted to ask permission to use parts of your script (and a link to your script) for the details.

I will probably also add some instructions on how this might be added to the "Late User Script" that is run after the haiku build is complete - this would allow people to build the image themselves directly from the repo without running a separate script after build.

CDR Tools's mkhybrid

I think thats happening a misunderstand. makelivecd script uses mkhybrid command from CDRTools, but there are 2 CDRTools versions on bebits (http://www.bebits.com/app/547 and http://www.bebits.com/app/3964). I tested with the oldest. :) I will try to use the newest!

Scripts are fine, but unclear about purpose of bin/cp

The scripts executed in my system without involving any new software downloads or reconfiguration. However I do get the same error about no such file or directory at bin/cp. The haiku image did appear in my destination directory

every one before I used the script
